Headroom in 26M Head
Anybody else frustrated by the lack of headroom in the
head? The admiral and I were brainstorming the issue last weekend. How about a pop-top over the head area? For use at dock or anchor only. I can envision a good-sized opening hatch replacing the acrylic skylight, with some sort of canvas cover screening. Maybe even with screens to enhance boat ventilation. I do envy the
with their nice head compartments!

We started by taking out the door. Totally useless. Curtain works better. Headroom? Good luck.

Re: Headroom in 26M Head
I'm 5'7" and the Admiral is 5' 1", so we don't seem to have a challenge.
I give everyone who comes on board the same instructions. "On board we are all female, everyone sits down

Well, door off, curtain in already. 6' for me, 5'4 for wife, and even she complains. Hard to deal with clothing when bent over. Sitting is the norm for our C-Head, expect for our 6-year old son.

Wow. Funny you should say that, as the admiral christened it over the weekend (nobody's used it up to that point) and complained that it was so tiny she couldn't move. And she's small. I can't imagine how small theSailor Dale wrote:I do envy thewith their nice head compartments!

At 6ft3 and abit...the X head is a small place with an "Airhead" installed....had thought to use it to wash too but not enough room...so on deck it is...but then again the subtropical environs we live in doesn't make that too hard....Well maybe on the watchers

My wife is pretty small - I asked here about it and her only comment was that from the head you have a great view.

Re: Headroom in 26M Head
i agree it is small, but percentage wise, it is used such a little, i am happier that it is not using valuable space on the boat, more headroom would mean more windage, and already it is tough to get on and off the trailer when there is a crosswind, and there is usually a wind of sorts when i want to go out anyway- coz i like to sail!!!!
i keep the head for no.2's no 1's are in a bucket and overboard.
t.p. in the garbage bag. yes the t.p. from the no.2's stays in the head.
what happens in the head... stays in the head!!

Re: Headroom in 26M Head
Try putting 1/2 inch spacers under the door hinges to allow the door to swing out further into he companionway - this has really taken away some of the claustrophobic effects of the head.

Re: Headroom in 26M Head
We have an opening hatch over the head. Nice for ventilation, but I've also popped my head out while using the facility. The one we purchased had a finishing piece inside that has a retractable shade and screen combo.

Re: Headroom in 26M Head
Which head do you have? With either the short Dometic or the C-head I have adequate headroom.

I know I am going to regret this, but I have no idea what you mean.RobertB wrote:Which head do you have? With either the short Dometic or the C-head I have adequate headroom.
