Does anyone know the brand / model number of the standard M26 Aluminium trailer bearings, I am moving to Perth for a couple of years and intend towing M26, but would like to be prepared with a complete set of bearings JIC.
Anyone done this trip before with a Mac in tow?
Thanks & Regards

Re: Towing Adelaide to Perth
Hi.
I just changed the bearings on our standard Mac
alloy trailer and I confirmed the part numbers with Cameron at Blue Reef Yachts:
Inner and outer cone bearings are: L68149 (same size inner and outer). Inner and outer cups are L68149. Seals are: 2.65 x 1.68.
SKF carry them, as does Repco.
Your call, but travelling that distance, I would consider actually changing the bearings prior to departure. Saves the need to change them out on the side of the Nullabor!
Hope that's helpful.

It has nothing to do with age or distance and everythign to do with grease. Sure, buy a set of new bearings, no harm in that but I would (and do) pack my bearings with new grease once a year and prior to any long trip, never had a bad bearing yet. I am referring to my caravans I have had ove rthe years, I have clocked more than 100,000 K's towing and prevention is far better than cure. I havnt had the boat long enough for this to be an issue yet but I will treat this trailer the same, keep in mind our bearings go under salt water every launch/retrieval so buy some bearing buddies and keep that grease up.

Best quote I've had by road or rail is $4500.00 + $1000 for Rodeo Vs $1200.00 on fuel for Rodeo towing M26. I'll be towing my accomodation and galley.
I plan to take it easy 3 days.
Thanks for your input Tempus & Sunshinecoasting.

Hi All,
Made the 2700 klms trip no problems at all! boat towed like a dream. Many pictures taken of the boat by fellow travelers at Cocklebiddy in the Nullabor.
Invited one couple from Sydney on board for drinks due to extortionate beer prices.
Thanks for the inputs.
