Last year Compromise and Syzygy parked their trailers in the Marina parking lot after asking permission. They had no problems with it.

Re: Southport Sail
Like I said there are new people working there and I have not spoken with the dock master yet but they have told me that they charge for overnight parking in the marina parking lot. If you want to take the chance and pay 10 bucks for parking each night then you are more than welcome to park there. I am just sayin; I have acquired free parking that is just across the street for those that wish to take advantage of it. I will call the dock master and confirm charges.

Re: Southport Sail
After a 1200 mile towing adventure, starting with a micro-tornado taking out our town k-12 school roof just hours after we left, GALACTICA and crew is at south port marina! We are in slip A 17. Riding the storm out! Another new adventure, since its raining off and on, we had dominoes pizza delivered--to the boat!!! How cool is that?! We cannot even get it delivered to our ranch!!!
nice marina, hank pomeranz, owner of Carolina yacht care, gave a weather briefing and a navigation briefing! Very helpful. He does it every night at eighteen hundred hours. Winds will subside by morning, Thunder storms off and on until eight or nine a.m.
We left our expedition and trailer in the ramp parking lot since the mast up lot across the street was locked. We'll move over there when folks begin arriving. We plan on heading over to bald head island until mid afternoon then return to our slip. See you all here!

Glad you made it Doug.
Bob, Yes, bring some wood. I am planning on picking up a couple of bundles myself.

Well, everyone is here and bedded down for the night. It looks to be a perfect weekend for sailing. We will head to Masonboro island sometime mid morning and cook dinner on the beach then after spending Saturday night on the hook, head back to the ramp at Southport Sunday.

Re: Southport Sail
I'm envious. My boat is still in the driveway. Working on resealing chainplates. And adding vents. And rebedding other deck hardware.
Looking forward to seeing more pics of what I'm missing, though.

Re: Southport Sail
What a great weekend. Great sailing on the way back to Southport. Thanks to Ron and Cindy on Storm Walker for making it happen and to Walter on Private Island for offering a safe haven to the group after my engine overheated... (bad thermostat... no problem.. remove and carry on) and to Billy on Double Cross for the short tow. It was something to see as 7 Macs sailed in formation down the Cape Fear River.

Re: Southport Sail
It was great to meet everyone, even if I couldn't leave the dock (stupid engine). I'm glad it worked out that everyone could relax at the marina, and I had a wonderful time! Looking forward to the next trip (with a new engine)

Re: Southport Sail
Ditto!
Thanks Ron and Cindy for a great time. The sailing was super fun and the company even better.
Thanks also to Erik who helped us to get our boat modified for his super speedy setup (lots of practice needed).
Billy G gave us a really great little mod that keeps the sail slugs from falling out.
Sunday morning we took the MacTaxi to Britts Doughts (since 1939). M..M..Good!
My kids did all the boat driving, most of the of sailing and enjoyed the trip without computers, phones, video games and blasting music.

Re: Southport Sail
Still having a wonderful time! Awesome sailing on the ocean to masonboro. Today has been full of adventures too -including some really, "holy sh!t" moments for the first few miles south of snow's cut! By Southport, it took eight tacks to get past a commercial pier! We continued on, explored some side rivers and sailed down to Lockwood's Folly. Riding on the anchor here tonight!
Ron & Cindy, we really enjoyed ourselves! Thanks for putting this together!

Re: Southport Sail
Doug, you will need to call the people for the mast up storage. They live just up the road so you won't have to wait long for them, maybe 10 minutes. He wanted you to call before you get your trailer. No worries they are a super nice couple. Just call the number on the fence, or on the brochure that he may have left on your windshield. Please let me know you received this. If you don't mind, PM me your phone number so I can call you.
I'm glad everyone had a great time. I will post a few more pics later as I forgot my camera card at home and I am at work.
