Forgot to mention..
Re your prop selection
I would start with a 14x15
A 14x11 is far too fine a pitch for that eng
14x13 even still
You will probably end up with either 15 or 17

Thanks Beene.
They did Not want to put a 150 on my transom
I think it was more an issue of the torque vs the weight. I was at the very top of my imaginary budget & couldn't afford to press for more. Thanks for the prop recommendations. I'm thinking about trying to prop for Ballast in weight. How much of an RPM dif do you think that would be?

Well, ballast wt eh.... hmm
14 x 15 or 13 then
rpm should be 5500 max at full ballast wt
Good luck with your testing

Here's my thinking. When I first had powering issues, last season, I wondered if I had strained the engine powering with ballast in. Which I did a lot, but not at WOT. While that didn't appear to be the problem, the thought stayed.
Has anyone ever had a similar concern?

Don't worry, you can't strain anything, its an engine, since the evolution of computerized fuel injection and ignition you can't harm anything, the computer will adjust ignition timing and fuel/air ration many times a second to compensate for over/under propping.your engine will happily run wot at 4000rpm all day long, you'll waste gas and not be at top speed, but the engine neither knows or cares.
Re: Considering Re-re-Power: Am I Crazy or What :|
Did you notice much rpm difference with your 90? new and light I had a good 400rpm difference, but once my boat got very heavy my RPMs were about the same ballast in and out with the 90. My guess is you are similar (heavier ballast out than a stock boat ballast in). Thanks for the prop recommendations. I'm thinking about trying to prop for Ballast in weight. How much of an RPM dif do you think that would be?
Your 14x11 will give you a good start point, but your gear ratio is changing by about 18% and power by about 22%, so you should be able to turn the same diameter with 40% more pitch than your 90. How does your hydrus shape look compared to the other props? If its high thrust with larger blades and cup that would load the motor like adding more pitch. Evinrude lists a 14x13 Hydrus pontoon high thrust which may be good. It looks like to get higher pitched props for your gearcase they start dropping diameter. I would really try to stick to the large diameter.
On my 90 with the 2.6 ratio I liked a 3 blade 14x19. It turned about 100 rpm lower than a 4 blade 14x15, but had noticeably lower cruise rpms and the same top speed.

Thanks Ray. It was a legitimate concern I had while trying to trouble shoot a "Houston we have a problem" situation.
My RPMs were at about 5k when my 90 was running right. The Suzi has more CCs & balls, Alex. So come the Mar/Apr thaw i want to start my 4 blade 14 x 10 thru to 15pitch & 3 blade jobbies.

I think a big earred hydrus 14 x13 is what's gonna do it. I'm gonna stay with large diameter eitherway... Hurry up Spring - Let the fun beginYour 14x11 will give you a good start point, but your gear ratio is changing by about 18% and power by about 22%, so you should be able to turn the same diameter with... a 14x13 Hydrus pontoon high thrust which may be good. Pics to follow - when I can get to Marina![]()
We're still a long way from being able to test. Like May. But time is marching on.

Hey Bro : )Well...What is the word?![]()
Thanks for the inquiry. Man!! It's "Been a LONG COLD LONELY Winter" as George Harrison, with the voice of an angel, sang.
I just paid for my last task @ Evinrude HeadQuarters.
On my transom is a new 115HP V4 Pontoon Series E-tec
I also paid for a: Sand blasting, SeaHawk Tough Stuff Barrier coating x2, 1 Cukote Harder Ablative (blue), & a Micron hard(er) black ablative coat
I just went for a boilerplate test drive. Where I didn't feel comfortable & there wasn't enough room to truly open her up. But I'm happy
HOW happy will be posted next upon taking her to my homeport where I can really open her up. I hope to take her home tomorrow - But won't be able to put her in her home Port of Bayside Marina till Sunday. Gotta Work. While I'm retired FDNY, I'm also a frustrated musician booked EVERY weekend singing Jimmy Buffet stuff like - "Oh how nice it is to be on the water in Paradise" till Late Sept
Next week, or so, I'll give the full story
I don"t expect a monumental difference. I'm currently propped with an aluminum 15x15x3 V6, 15 spline prop. I think we can do better but time will tell. The factory was happy - but they've never seen a [Powersailor] sailboat Plane. So ... We'll see - but the V4 was as far as they were willing to take me - & a$ far a$ I could afford to go
$o Therefore, I Am Happy

I just have to live long enough to enjoy Miss Ollie on a weekend
..."When I hold you, in my arms... & put my finger on Your trigger."..
Hmmm. I may have to add this to my repetoire...
