Can a lost Sailor come home ??
Hello All: Just wondering if I can come home again
Dauntless sold with a balance due ( I know DUMB ) but as it turns out the guy made a big time mistake and tried to ship Her down to Costa Rica.....luckily the shipping lines require proof of ownership or permission and paperwork from the Owner before They will ship something. They contacted Me with this and of course I informed them that No one has permission to ship My Vessel out of the country. I went to Houston with repossession papers and now...after some assembly ,Dauntless is back where She should have always stayed. There are a few scrapes and a couple of gouges on the bow.....looks like the ladder got it , otherwise She looks great. Anyway....I'd love to come home...and promise not to run away again

Rules are that returning sailors (read: "turncoat traitors") need to buy not only pizza for everyone, but beer as well.
I'll have the Bell's Third Coast Ale with my anchovy pizza.
Oh, yeah... and welcome back.

I like anchovies too.
I once sold a boat and their scam went like so.
I took part payment and held the papers. Buyer made several payments then took the boat and put it in storage where it was unlikely to be found. After several months the storage company contacted me with bogus claims of more then the boat was worth.
They proceeded to put a lien in the boat and I walked away.
Never ever take payments on a boat.
Never hold the papers for someone. If they damage another boat you are responsible.

Re: Can a lost Sailor come home ??
After I bought my 26M, I listed my San Juan 21 for sale on the San Juan owners site.
The "best offer" I got was from a guy in Texas who wanted to buy it for his son
on the East Coast. I was supposed to be paid by a business partner of his from California, who owed him money for a truck. I told him I'd gladly accept CASH, AFTER
he came and looked at the boat.
Actually, I did sell the boat over the internet to an SJ owner from Canada who was looking for another SJ to race. He was a steady poster on the SJ site and was the Commodore of the SJ fleet there. He flew into Chicago, bought an SUV, picked up my boat, and trailered it back to Canada.

Re: Can a lost Sailor come home ??
Thanks Everyone: yeah.... I figured it would be a pizza and beer thing....but it's well worth it
I really think the Guy was just a dumb crook.... because a scammer would have thought it through. He made a huge down payment ... then was paying it off a grand a month....even was current with payments. He wanted to take Her to a mechanic to get everything checked out.... I actually knew the shop and called Them, and He actually did have an appt. Anyway.... I let Him take Her and He headed straight to Houston....had Her containerized and I guess He thought no-one would ask for paperwork DUH . When They started asking questions....He took off
It wont take too long to find Him because He left His cell phone and drivers license on the Ladies desk
Oh Well Live and learn
I'm glad to back home

But then, you Scotsmen have pretty tough constitutions, I suppose. I mean, you guys invented haggis, for goodness' sake.
