lost ground at perko?
lost all power to cabin. when checking the perko switch i have 12+ voltage to #1 and #2 and "all".. ( tested with positive lead of volt meter to switch terminal and negative lead to battery) . When touching negative end of the meter lead to perko ground I get zero voltage. I checked the ground wire at the outboard ( 50hp evenrude etech) . I have checked all wires and circuit breakers.

What switch do you have? None of the battery selectors I'm familiar with have a ground or DC neg. connection, as they simply switch the DC pos.ozz wrote:When touching negative end of the meter lead to perko ground I get zero voltage.

Re: lost ground at perko? SOLVED
my bad..you are right... its a perko switch and all contacts are positive. That's what i get for working on the boat late at night! I found the problem. I checked the inline fuse and it was ok. then did a continuity check form both ends of the inline fuse holder to the fuse pannel. only the near side was ok. I removed the fuse holder and connected the wire directly to the switch and success! the fuse holder was bad! so its off to the store for a new holder...
