Dimples in hull

I have a 1985 Mac 25 with what I've been told is a common problem. Support for the hull when on the trailer ends well short of the stern. The bunk ends 6 feet before the stern, but the support for the bunk is positioned 8 feet ahead of the stern. The weight of the boat has caused dents in the hull directly over the rear bunk supports. The weight of the boat rests primarily on the steel bunk support; the rear of the bunks have bent downward and do not support the hull. I have replaced the bunks, but they warped in the same manner. I brought this problem up on another forum and was told by several people that this is normal for the Mac 25, but it still worries me. I've seen photos of these boats on extended trailers that offer bunk support almost to the stern. This boat has a 10hp Johnson and two batteries and less than a hundred pounds of other gear on board. The mast is stored on saw horses beside the boat and the sails are stored indoors. Do I need to be worried, and do I need to have the trailer extended? I have considered adding a steel support that would angle up from the rear trailer cross member to the end of the bunk with a connector to the top of the bunk support. This triangular brace would still leave 6 feet of the boat unsupported. Any and all suggestions and comments will be appreciated.

A quick web search turns up most 25's with super short trailers, with the tail lights right behind the fenders. Yowsa!

Have you considered using 4x8, or larger bunks on edge, scribed to the hull, that would extend well back toward the stern? In other words, use a structural bunk, in lieu of extending the trailer structure... Spreading the load over more area should help.
