Emptying my ballast in front of onlookers is my favorite part.
My process = leave it all in while pulling up the ramp, as soon as I am clear I go around back to check motor/rudders/etc...
Casually yank the handle and jump like I have been shocked... just for effect.

Fifteen years ago, when my :macm: was brand new, I had just pulled Nice Aft out of the water; I was still on the ramp while water was pouring out of the ballast valve. An old salt who was watching me yelled "That boat is to new to be taking on that much water!" :D 8)

I sail Lake Tahoe. I also drain on the trailer, on the ramp. I have remarked to friends that sail with me, as the ballast is draining, gee, I don't remember us drinking that much beer. This is said in a loud voice so bystanders can hear, just to stir said bystanders up... :D 8)
