Venture 25 improvements

Post by SURV69 »

I've redone all my teak on my 74(?) Venture 25 with Purple Heart.

Really nice looking wood with a natural red-purple grain.

I also removed my table made a larger 2-piece to completely fill the sleeping slot and made a 1' wide table out of purple heart.

Made a new bulkhead behind the Starboard setee and placed an air conditioner COMPLETELY inside the boat(venting out the starboard seat hatch.

Added a masthead spinnaker crane and a BIG spinnaker(hope the thing doesn't get me killed).

I'm considering putting a cammed bow wheel to raise the boat about 1 inches off the front of the bunkboards in order to keep the boat tighter to the bow chock.

When I take picures and learn how to post, I'll share.

I bet it looks great. Please do upload photos for all to see. I've seen some of the older Mac/Venture restorations out on the web, and am continually impressed with what folks do to bring these old vessels back to life.

You should also add your bulkhead and spinnaker crane modifications to the Mac Mods page so they are recorded for posterity. It's a great tool for tracking this type of thing, and we non-26 owners are highly under-represented.

Good to see some posts for the other models.
it is really easy to post photos under the mods section. I think you can post up to 3 pictures per mod. Would like to see the photos of the A/C setup.

Thanks for posting your mods for the rest of us to see John.

Can you tell me more about how you vented the air conditioner? There's a spot in the head on the M19 that might be perfect for mounting one of these little units, if it could be properly ventilated. Also, what happens to the condensation in your setup?

BTW -- Love the Purple Heart. It's gorgeous.

Air conditioner

Missed the question on condensation.

I'm not sue what the amount of condensation will be, but I figure there's two ways to get rid of it.

First off the bottom of the air-conditioner is above the exit pipe of the cockpit drain and I've thought of tapping into it. The second thought was to place a small "tub" with a bilge-pump and float switch to do, basically the same thing.

Without knowing the amount of condensation is at issue, I'm not sure what method I plan to use.

Again . . . this is the problem with working on the boat, with no available electricity. No experimentation can be done.
