Meguiars Wax - anyone?

I was complaining to a fellow boater about having to do all the buffing and he suggested this spray-on, buffless wax. It looks like he was talking about Meguiars.

Anyone had any experience with this? is it a good substitute?

I’m always wary of the “easy way”… it often comes with compromises. Most spray-on polishes are nothing more than silicone, which makes things look great for a short time, but does nothing long term. Boats, like cars, have surfaces that oxidize, and that oxidized coating needs to be removed to have a long-lasting pleasing finish. As such, it’s either elbow grease or a powered polisher that’s needed to remove that coating before waxing. Once that’s removed, there are any number of great waxes that will work. I just use plain old Turtle Wax - the same stuff many folks use on their car.

I have a concours winning Jaguar . I use Meguiars wax exclusively. The car is 30 years old and the finish is better than new, no scratches swirls or blemishes.Meguiars has a variety of waxes, pick the one that is best for your finish. I have used Meguiars "Wash and Wax" on the MacGregor not the Jaguar. It takes off surface mildew and gives a nice shine. Spray on and wipe off; easy and effective. If the surface is oxidized, you will definitely need to use a cutting compound and a buffer. waxing over oxidized paint is a waste of time. The black stripes are another problem.

As mentioned, most things in life there are no shortcuts. Oh, I've found cheating ways to make stuff look great in the short term, but it never lasts and sometimes looks worse later.

What I did learn from Drake's videos is the right tools makes the difference. I invested in a random orbit polisher and some good pads. Makes the job so much easier.

Sorry, I should clarify: Of course I will have to powerwash the hull clean. I'll use Spray Nine.

I actually bought a used buffer at a garage sake for when I planned to wax my boat but that hasn't happened yet.

Was deliberate. *I* don't know what the product is.

My friend called it "McGuire's or something. At any Canadian Tire store".

I wont lie, its work.
Typically an hour or so to polish the gelcoat and another hour for the polymer coating. Lasts a season nice

Indeed. I wish there were something that simple. I tried some spray on oxidation removers. Still haven't found something that works.
