Theo,
Have you considered Lake Mohave? The climbs going the back way thru 29 Palms is not as steep as Cajon Pass. If you do consider it, I recommend putting in at Cottonwood Cove. The lake is long and the winds are variable, usually blowing up or down the lake. They can get high like they do on Mead.

I appreciate your concern with your vehicle. We pulled our :macx: up to the delta and down to Havasu over the last couple of years with a Pathfinder 6 cylinder. Recently got a Tundra V8 after the Pathfinder started burning a quarts of oil.

My better half and I are headed up there for 7 days of sailing, fishing and exploring the coves.

Theo,

Yep, you are right about the private lakes...I was just looking at them from a pure size point of view.

The mast down option of an RV type storage would be cheaper, but defeats my main problem....signifigant other really doesn't like the raising and lowering the mast part of the operation.

Well Rick, are we neighbors yet at Channel Island Landing?

Hey Rich! Unfortunately we are not neighbors... I tried, but finally had enough with trying to deal with the people at your location. That was possibly the worst customer service experience I have had in CA, and that is saying a lot since customer service here is pretty bad compared to CO. I called the lady every couple of days and she kept blowing me off with a story about needing to still go out and make sure she had room etc.... She said she would call back and never did.

I finally gave up and just today signed the paperwork to put my boat in the mast up storage in Marina Del Rey. I will move the boat there this Saturday.

Keep us posted on weekends that you guys will be in Oxnard though. We would drive up just to hang out with you guys again!!
