Buy a Sail Cover to Support this Site

Post by delevi »

Since I recently replaced my sails, I had to get a new sail cover made to fit the thicker, bulkier main with openings to accommodate the Dutchman system. The cover I got for the stock mainsail is 2 years old and in excellent condition, but I have no use for it. I decided to put it up for sale and donate the proceeds (less shipping costs) to Heath to help support this great web site. The cover is black Sunbrella and will fit any stock mainsail on an M or X boat. Satisfaction guaranteed. Once you receive it, check it out, try it on your sail, and then confirm that you are happy with it and keeping it and then pay the amount of the purchase price to MacSailors directly. If not, send it back to me. I won’t set a price. Just post your offer on this thread. I will leave this open for one week, until Thursday Jan 11th by 6 p.m. Pacific Time. If $100 or more can be raised, I’ll pay for shipping. If not, just reimburse me. Hope that sounds fair.

I thought this might be kind of fun and a good cause. I certainly don’t want to turn this into an Ebay-circus, so Heath and/or moderators; if this is in any way inappropriate, please let me know, and my apologies in advance.

The guidelines are its fair game to sell your stuff as an 'end user' by soliciting deals on the Board - the Pub is maybe a better place to do this from an archive standpoint, but posting on Main Board is ok.

If you turn into a regular seller on the Board you should contact Heath to make sure everyone in business gets treated consistently and fairly

Occasional sales of private stuff are no problem and part of the community.

...and donations to the Board always appreciated Im sure!!

No intention of becoming a regular seller. I just thought this would be the best place to find a good home for the cover and I won't feel bad about letting it go for cheap (paid about $300) since I can find a good home for it and contribute to this site at the same time. Essentially, I'm giving it away, so not sure if you can consider me a "seller" per say.

Cheers,
L.

Its Heaths board, of course, not mine Leon - as far as I see it your post is fine and not a problem - I appreciate that you were thoughtful enough to raise the issue yourself.

well isn't this interesting... I have a 2002 X with a blue sail cover. I always thought it looked a little odd... black and white boat with a blue cover. Even though the blue is "apparently" faster, I prefer the looks of a black sailcover. Just yesterday, I was talking with an upholstery shop about making a black one and using my blue cover for a template. I would gladly make the donation!! ..... Opening donation.... $100.00

let the bidding war begin...LOL

Here are some pictures of the cover laying out my deck. I can no longer fit it properly on my sail, so this is the best I got. I just washed it. The cover is structurally in perfect condition and not faded. There are, however, a few small stains from either salt or bird crap... hey it's a cover. These didn't come out in the wash. You have to look really carefully to see them, and probably won't see them in the pics.

Cheers All,
Leon

Well,
I told Pam I would stop buying stuff but I'm sure she won't mind another package coming to the house. We have black roller furling sunbrella. It's a deal and it helps the site! I'll go $150. :)

Looks like we have a winning bidder. Francis, PM with your address and I'll send the cover to you. Once you receive it, check it out and confirm you're keeping it by posting on this thread, a PM to me would be nice and go ahead and donate $151 to this site. If you don't want to keep it, let me know and I'll get the address for ChrisP and Pam, the runner up. It would be easier to have you send it directly there rather than back to me and have me send it to them. I'm sure you'll like it though. Let me know if you have an questions.

Thanks for playing all. Again, didn't want to stirr up intense competition. Just wanted to find a good home for the cover and help this site.

Francis, I don't have your PM message. I think something is going on with the mail service here, since I sent you a PM yesterday and it's still sitting in the outbox. I don't want to post my email here, but if you go to my web site, just click on contact and it will take you right there.
