sick of tarps

Post by pythonguy »

I know a custom cover is more expensive, but I'm getting kind of sick of tarps and constantly working out rain pockets and fighting the wind. Does anyone have a suggestion for a fit boat cover that covers at all, and possibly as a bonus can be used for highway driving?

Waiting out the wettest winter in years... :|

These boat covers seem to require the removal of the mast and hardware << (corrected below). They look good though, but Sorta pricey.

Edit Add: Seems that removal of the mast and hardware arent necessary, according to the article. And the cover can stay on when trailering.

I love my boathouse. It's one of those simple tube and tarp garages sold at auto parts stores. It's frame is 20' but I let the back wall drape over the cockpit as it sticks out the back. I added an extra section of pipe so it is high enough to just roll the boat in. Stake it down well with lines and anchors.

Being able to go out and work on the boat without anything, even a custom cover in the way is great. Last weekend I power washed the boat while it was inside (unfortunately during our storms I walked all over it with muddy feet). We did a bunch of prep yesterday in a driving rain. It gives you full access to the boat yet keeps it completely protected. Easy in, easy out, and cheap to boot. It survived our recent 100 year wind storm.
