Video for the 1989 26D

Post by dcfifield »

I am very interested in the 26 Classics. Specifically the 1989 26D.

Do any of you wonderful people know of a site that has a downloadable Macgregor Video for this boat.

My 1st post. I am very impressed with the knowledge and community spirit shown by the members of this site. Kudos to Heath.

This Macgregor promo video is of the 26S but its a very similar boat to the 26D.

I have an 88D. It is the same as the 89d BUT THE STIPE IS BLUE INSTEAD OF BLACK I can hel[p you out with info if you have questions about the dagger board version. We do a lot of crusing on our boat "Winderful"

Nice link, Walt. Curiously, that video depicts both the 26D AND 26S. The interior shot with the first 60 seconds is clearly a 26D, evident by the layout and the vertical dagger-trunk. Maybe around 6-min. mark they show an exterior shot of the 26S swing-board, dropping & retracting. Then just past 8-min mark, they again show the 26D cabin interior.

The dialog, though, is about the same as the 26X video.
I think those must be Roger's own pet ducks - appearing in every video! :D

No, Frank, look closer. That's a 26S interior with the compression post in the forward inboard corner of the galley, just aft of the head. [edit] If you look closely, you can see the cleat for the centerboard line on the starboard side of the galley, next to the seat cushions. Every interior shot I saw in the 26S video was of the 26S. This picture is from the 26S brochure:

Below is a 26D where the daggerboard trunk takes up the whole inboard side of the galley.

The layout of these two boats was pretty much identical except for this. Here's an aft view of the 26D. The 26S is identical.

[edit] Came back later and added aft view.

There are scans of various MacGregor models' brochures and owners manuals on the web archive of Bob White's old web site. You may have to try different dates to get an archive with most of the photos. You'll have to copy and paste the entire line below since the forum software doesn't seem to handle it correctly as a link.
