I agree with much of what many of you have said. I will only add - perhaps repeating what others have also stated - that we need to please keep this in perspective. Given the high rate of production, the low cost and the pickyness of many owners (myself most definitely included), there are a surprisingly few 'leak' complaints against MacGregor in this forum, and I expect that reflects reality in some manner. Mac's are generally of fairly good quality overall, at least where it counts anyway.
So... let's wait for the pics... and for an evaluation by a competent surveyor (and/or the dealer/factory representative) before we start jumping up and down or worrying that the next boat off the line will have the same problem. Mac has sold literally thousands of these boats... so the odds of any new owner actually getting a duff one is pretty darned slim.

I still feel this problem will be dealt with in a satisfactory way/solution.
I am for one, after much searching still convinced the Mac 26 M is the boat for us and Audrey and I will be calling Bill today or tomorrow and setting up an appointment to see him for Sunday. Where could I get so much BANG for my buck and . . . .have all / most of you for help with needs Ideas or problems I might ever have

BTW 30 degrees and snow here in Chicago . But down at our house on Cozumel its 80+ and sunny.... Why am I up here. Has anyone ever sailed their boat to Mexico??/ Cozumel Costa Maya or Cancun????

Please advise as to how to insert photos from my hard drive to a post within this board. Thanks very much.

Chip, a website (free) at geocities has been setup by someone for your use. If you want, you can email me the pictures and I will send them to this person who will post them for you on the website and the link to the website can be put here for all to see. Or, I can have the someone email you privately the password for the site and you can upload them yourself.
Here is the website with a sample picture.

I will send you a private email with the contact info.

The only place you can upload pictures is the mod section.
All the pictures you see inline in discussions reside elsewhere on the web and are inserted by placing a Img reference in the text body.
You can put your pictures in your personal web space or in one of the many free web sites. Probably the easiest is to use one of the many free picture sharing sites offered on the web. MSN, Yahoo, and Snapfish are just some that come to mind.
Once you have your pictures accessible via the web you can then insert the picture in the discussion. The easiest way to do this is to view the picture you want in a browser, right click it and select 'properties'. In the property info you will find the URL. Just drag over it to select it and then do a copy (ctrl-C). Back in the discussion do a paste (ctrl-V). Select the pasted in URL and click on the Img button up above the editing box.
I use two different browser windows which makes this process real easy. It eliminates all the typing of the URL and the mistakes that go along with it. It also gets all the special characters inserted automatically that have to replace things like spaces in the URL.

Yeah, on the picture advice, but for A, B, or C reasons, Chip should have the ability to go back and add to, or delete pictures. The off-thread website does this, but putting them in the thread message directly may not.

The pictures are never in the thread, only a reference is in the thread. If you remove the picture from wherever you have posted them on the web it removes it from the thread. (leaves the image url text) . Likewise if you change the picture where you have it on the web it changes the image shown in the thread as it is retreived in realtime when the thread is viewed by someone. None of the pictures you see in threads are stored at this site.
Only the pictures in the Mod section are actually uploaded to and stored at Heath's site.

Here is an example from Ofoto.com Select "quote" on this message to view how it is done.

Last week, I sent this thread to my Mac dealer. After reading it, he called me and said that in his 30+ years as a dealer, this is the first time he has heard of a problem like this.
His advice, and I would agree, take the boat to the dealer and have someone look at it. Or have the dealer come look at it. It is the dealer's job to work warranties.

Thanks for all of the help from everyone regarding digital photo links. I am not sure how to make the above a link, so if someone could please do so, it will save the time of people having to type in the address to see the photo. I will upload more photos from home tonight. The one that you can find above is in my battery compartment. Look closely around the center of the photo (not the center of that part which is lit but rather the center of the entire photo). You'll see a black space mostly surrounded by discolored yellow resin. I've been calling that a void but perhaps I mislabeled it. I can assure you, the water is leaking from that and other similar resin-filled holes. I'm going to fill the tank tonight and take some photos which show the various leaks.

(Chip, as described above by Duane, you can actually embed your image into a thread. You can simply "Quote" this entry to view the method of embedding an image.)
I fully expect, from the reputation they've established over many years, that the Mac factory will provide Chip with completely acceptable resolution to the problem. I truly believe this is due to the factory's history of good customer service and protection. Regardless of our occasional grousing over minutiae of finish details, I've seen reports of, and experienced, factory replacements that were beyond fair.
The July 4 drowning and trial is just added motivation for the factory's likelihood to favor safety at any reasonable cost. Finally, I've been quite surprised to notice in recent months that there are consistently an equal number of guests as forum members reading these fora each time I get on-line . . . a solid indicator that the market for Mac vessels remains robust, and that this website is an important gathering place for interested parties. Good on ya, Heath!

Thanks for inserting the photo of my battery compartment, Frank. Dealer is coming to my house from Cape Coral (250 miles) with his fiberglass guy on Saturday.
We will be water testing and I will be showing them all of the leaks. They are still incredulous as to the number of leaks and their cause(s). That bubble, or what I would call a hole, in the center of the photo and in other parts of the photo as well, is where the water is coming into the cabin from the ballast tank. They'll have to see it to believe it (or understand it) because they still aren't understanding how or why water is leaking in. Hopefully, the fiberglass guy will be able to readily determine the problem and its solution. I remain less than optimistic because I am convinced, based on the number of bubbles or resin-filled, leaking holes, that the fiberglass job on my tank is flawed throughout. I'll let everyone know what determination the dealer and fiberglass expert make on Saturday. Thanks again for everyone's input.
