I tried washing my carpets in the WM and the carpets FELL APART completely. Had to get new ones from Roger.

If that happened again I would forget carpets and get that nifty teak slat flooring this time 8)

Do not throw them in any machine. Go to Sears and purchase a carpet cleaning powder called CAPTURE. There is a spray liquid that is applied to the carpet first, then a white powder is sprinkled on the carpet. You then rub it all into the carpet, and wait for it to dry. You then vacuum it out.

When I was in the furniture service industry, I would subcontract all of my carpet and fabric cleaning jobs to a fellow who was the best I have ever seen at that business. He built all of his own equipment :!: He highly recommended me to get Capture for my own home for emergencies. Two years ago I needed a few carpets cleaned in my home. Unfortunately, Randy had died a several years earlier, and I never found anyone as good again. I used the good old Yellow Pages, and the fellow who came to my home made a large area of my off white living room carpet beige :( . After several attempts over a few days, he gave up and turned it over to his insurance company. I remembered Randy's words, and went out to Sears for some Capture. To make a longer story short, the Capture did in four attempts by me, what the pro could not do at all. Beige Gone!

In all honesty, I have not tried it myself on my Mac's carpets. That is one of my chores to do either Wednesday or Thursday evening. The carpets are off of the boat and waiting, but I do have that much confidence in the stuff to potentially embarrass myself here.

Avoid the WM battens. They don't work well (speaking from personal experience.) The Mac factory or virtually any dealer can sell you a set of replacement battens. They do come in a set.. can't just buy one or two. Afer you replace them, sew the batten pockets shut. These sails are prone to lose battens.. just a cheap setup to have them secured. When I had my stock sails, I lost several.

i think ill go and buy a cheap offcut and use what is left of the carpets as templates,it apears that a thread spun loose and wound itsself around the washing maching,so it looks like $500+ for a new washing machine and $20.00 for an off cut :?

The washing machine has a burned out motor and bearing

A little off topic Baston, but you can probably replace that motor at half the cost of a new machine, and it is the major wear item.

I got a nice new set of rugs to fit my :macx: from Softtopper as well as new cushions downstairs
