Hey Bill,
What would it take to set up the X with a traveler like the M has? Cost wise as well as equipment...

this has been discussed before. Because of the shorter cabin, there is no easy place on the X to put a traveler. Some have postulated and I believe at least one has built Hunter-like arches, but in order to make one work, you either have to raise the boom (see other thread on this subject) or put the arch so low it seriously compromises movement through the cockpit and is an extreme headache hazard.

In the M picture I saw, it looked as though there could be some interference climbing in and out of the cabin. I've seen some of the mod pictures of the arch systems that have been built. It doesn't look as though there is much clearance between the boom and the arch. Do they really do much good mounted this way?
Check that Main Halyard shackled aft of mast perhaps?

My main halyard was rigged backwards in the pulley. The end labelled 'Main Halyard came down the aft side of the mast and the unlabelled end was shackled to the top of the main, forward side of the mast coming back at an odd angle which made it hard to tension
It took me two seasons to notice....still learning...
