Yes, it can be done but if you have the right ideas. A lot of changes to live in less than 8 feet by 26 feet. Kinda fun and a real pain at times. The hardes thing is what not to put into the boat. An outside storage would be nice. Shore shower and laundry is a must. Enough water for 1 week or more.
Same mods for curising as liveaboard. You should save a lot. I know I am in the Fl Keys.

Re: Making 26M a LiveAboard Boat
my wife and I have been looking at living aboard our M. when considering living on a small boat, everyone talks primarily about the difficulties with no shower, no running hot water, and those type of creature comforts.
Now suppose that you had all that. what else would make the MAC unsuitable? in the forums, you can see all kinds of mods for storage, and entertainment, cooking and cleaning up. sure its tight. you couldn't be a couch potato and do it. perhaps food storage would be an issue. if you were of a more European mindset, i.e. going shopping for groceries daily, would that cover it? assuming you had a sweet marina with a storage/garage on site. nice laundry, and showers. would it just be too tight still? even aboard a 36 you still need to crawl into bed. if you went the modding route of say jack sparrow, would that make an M livable? The reason that I'm asking is after just one season in our boat, we feel that we NEED to be on the water full time. the options are to try it on the mac, or to not, and instead sell it, and buy a 1970s Pearson or some such boat. now with my wife still in the army, it would prove advantageous to be able to easily trailer the boat. if that's not doable you can move a 36 foot sailboat coast to coast for about 10k including haul-out and stepping the mast. on the other hand, if i put 10k more into the mac, wow. any thoughts?

living aboard....
for how long? and depends on location... In SoCal - is is very easy...
you need AC power - to run a refrigerator (no freezer).... working potti... a good table to put your portable computer on... and run wifi.... decent bedding and a good sense of organization... make buddies with your fellow dock buddies...
and just do it, if you get the chance...
most other places.. you get issues with the environment... humidity, bugs, heat, cold, water temp, cost....
but what else do you want to do??
