Rick, me thinks you'd better "pass" on Kevin's widow next door, especially if you have Life Insurance.
:D I cant understand, after about 2 or 3, what causes a fella to plunge back into the battle zone 3 or 4 more times ? So, here's my suggestion:
Rick...I recommend a good Hound Dog as a companion...they fetch, bark at burglars, enjoy long walks, and never COMPLAIN. Just throw 'em a bone now and then, and theyre happy. :D And to top all that, they like boats...

Fortunately, or unfortunately depending on your tastes :| , that is the only kind of "bone" that u can give them. I'll take the women any day! :) I too have been driving the wifey crazy, and now looks as if I will have to do so for a while longer. I am in the catagory of sailors here that retired and did not buy in time with my retirement investments  and now will have to wait for...??? yrs until I recover some of my money. Now the consideration is whether to buy used or not, something I had not considered before.

Like others said, get your wife involved. Mine did the interior, curtains, matching comforter and throw cushions, new carpets, accessories for the head, galley accessories, all kinds of stuff.
The obsession never stops though, it is not so much about the Mac as it is about boating! Boating be it power or sail or both or just getting out on the water or looking for adventure. I have at least three blogs I visit daily and must have well over a hundred favourites on my internet menu that are sailing/boating related. I have a magazine subscriptions and e-mail subscriptions and I still cannot get enough. This hobby consumes me, my time and all my money, I am hoplessly addicted. I am also truly fortunate that my wife enjoys the sailing side of it with me, I don't expect her to indulge in all my other boating fantasies, she is just happy to have me look after the technical stuff while she just shares in the fun part - sailing.
It could be worse, there are other vices to blow time and money on that would be far more detrimental to a marriage than a boat, although I have heard stories about boats and divorces. :P

The wifey thingie preferred over a Hound Dog makes sense to me too... :D But, for Rick...with 7 strike outs maybe its time to pick a Hound, or opt for the Ugliest Fat-Hefty Homey Gal available...neither stray, and are easily pleased with "FOOD" (Im not speaking from experience, just from what Ive heard...okay) :D

Hey Allan. As someone mentioned earlier...there's some good boat bargains available, and more to come. I bought "used", and have been quite happy with my :macx:
Good Luck...

I found this on a web site regarding Admiral Perry "This planning was the result of years of experience, for Peary’s current expedition was his eighth to the Far North during a period of almost twenty-three years. His interest in the arctic had considerably antedated his first expedition, however, for his curiosity had been aroused while he was a child." Now I haven't quite caught Rick but I imagine our curiosity was aroused and we are still experiencing results.

And this probably has degenerated to a pub level discussion............

Wait a minute - - - I don't have seven strike outs - - - just seven marraiges - - - my current wifey isn't going anywhere - - - and I had one that passed away (she was terminal when we got hitched) - - - so I only have five strikeouts - - - and one lasted 24 years (first one) (ok so one lasted three months big deal)(that one still cost me a condo).

I've also had dogs (K-9's - no doggie women) all my life and the real love of my life, Doc, a ten year old B & W Springer Spaniel, died early last year. I am afraid to get another puppy (IMHO the only way to raise a dog - - - from a puppy), because I'm afraid that I wouldn't outlive a new dog, and I can't stand that thought - - - I know how much I still miss and think about Doc. Doc just LOVED the water and boats, although the cabin of the Mac was difficult for him (us) to traverse up and down.

Anyway, I just wanted to correct the record :) 8)

Rick :) :macm:

PS to Tangentair - - - you THINK???

PPS to Allan - - - just buy SOMETHING Allan - - - used Mac is better than no Mac - - - most guys are VERY happy with their used Macs - - - don't wait "until" - - - sometimes "until" never quite arrives! AND a new Mac is a used Mac in six months or less! The new smell goes away before that!

Thanks Louis. I have been thinking, reading and investigating the X, especially now. But I am still anxious about any big ticket purchase with the market still falling. Good things come to those who wait but the waiting is killing me :!: :? AND driving my wife nuts (to keep in tune with the original post) :)

I like Blue Water Sailing and Coastal Gunkholeing, my girlfriend likes big cabin, comfort berths and lots of household Items with a full (Kitchen) and a inclosed (Bathroom) .
So she got her way and I bought a Mac. X that had a full Galley and a Head and never regreated it.
Listen to your wife and I am sure you can work it out.

AKCoastie wrote:Just wondering if anyone else is as crazy as I am. Since I have discovered the 26M, I have been pouring over any information I can find about the Mac. It fit into that weird notch that I was looking for. I have read through the sales brochure a few dozen times. I have watched the entire video 3 times. I check this site daily. I can quote specifications off to my wife at the drop of a hat. I have already planned out all the mods I want to do. My wife is going crazy and threatens to throw me off a cliff if I mention the boat again. Unfortunately, we won't be financially or locality set for about 2-3 years, so no boat. Ugh...the waiting sucks.

Get something is right...

Mac25s are good to start and inexpensive..

26Ds and 26Ss are moving on up in cost.. but not much...

Xs and Ms... well............ there's a lot of good to say....

If you are completely bent.. there's some new 70s coming out.... I sure want to see the trailers...

I have to agree with Currie...the mods never seem to stop...but every one is an improvement.
Furler, marlin board, larger motor?, 2;1 pulleys, lazyjacks, backstays, fridges, accessories, and on and on...
One thing that does not change...the basic hull. If you are going to worry about it being a bit tender when sailing, give it some more thought. for me the shallow water capabilities outshine all else...it just expands the places you can visit.

Hi J Teixeira
The U-tube is not of my boat I found it. I do not have an autopilot yet.

School house Steve you will meet her sometime this spring. Have you been out yet, today was a blast on the river 1 ft wind waves and steady 17 mph breeze with gusts to 25.
