Mike,
I completely agree with You in general but I think -like always- in this certain case something is different.
In fact a local mechanic and I tried to fix it however resulting in a blocked throttle :P . My thoughts to that were now:
My engine was running up to 2000RPM what gave me adequate power to operate the boat safely with the outboard when required however I was at the lake to sail. I didn´t like to spend more of my limited time at the Lac Leman with fixing the outboard without the appropriate spare parts (no Suzuki service in Swizz) and tools. As a matter of fact I believe that the locked throttle is a result of that. After one cable was broken it was exchanged by a cable which was longer than the original one. Having problems in shifting than the second one was exchanged with a cable what actually was to short :x .
To morrow when I´m at home and the :macx: has to stay on the trailer I have all times in the world to take care for the engine :) . Anyone needs the cables? :D

Thank You all for the further advises how to get rid of the ballast water, I will keep that in mind.

Dont forget to add a handful of Snickers (tm) bars to the tank for the maximum effect..

The boat is on the trailer now :) , tomorrow I´m heading home to GE (600km).
With all boards up, boom dismentalled but mast still erected my Suzuki DF 50 gave me 5.3 Kts max. with 2000RPM :( . No way to get the ballast water out this way. Even Snickers didn´t help :D . So I just emtyed the ballast tank on the trailer during the pull out on the ramp, no problem at all. :)
