We had about 5-6' of tide range at our beach/anchorage. When we first got there we could step off the back of our boats into about 8-12" of water...at high tide it was about 5' deep off the back...and of course high and dry at low tide. My first time to do that in my boat...the tides Bastonjock and I faced in his boat aren't even in the same category...those tides were like 5-6 meters (literally).

When I took Nice Aft out after our first sail, there were some old salts standing at the ramp just admiring my beautiful boat. When I pulled her clear out of the water, one of the admirer's yelled at me "She's too new to have taken on that much water " I looked to see what he saw, and then I remembered the ballast was emptying I explained, and after that, no one has said a word. They all know Nice Aft Now there are at least three other 's at the marina. We are old hat

congrats on your firts sail,it reminded me of the first time C130 and i went on my we were getting very close to the boats limit with full sails up,boy were we zipping along.

I can experience 22 feet of tidal range and over 3 knots of current,i find that its best to sail in 8 hour time blocks,if i want to go north its best for me to leave at HW+2 as by the time that i clear the point,the tides have changed to flow from south to north and i also have enough water under my keel to cut the corner and for me to go over sand banks that become islands at low water +or- 1 hour.

One of the joys of a mac is when you see a keel boat having to drop its anchor at the mouth of an estuary as the tide is too strong for his 20 hp diesel,thats when you crank up the 50

Le Zephyr looks new! I'll motor onto the trailer next time. I suspect that would have been easier in the long run.

I cranked up my Etec 60. Even with full ballast, it really moved across the water--especially for a sailboat!!!

Great pic of the beaching! I look forward to this coming season with relish! Good video! Eventually, I plan on sailing -->un-named M <-- on coast hugging adventures on the Great lakes, some large lakes out west, a swim around the Florida keys and perhaps after we retire, a trip up the inside passage to Juneau to see my sister! Time and money... For now, I get to enjoy exploring the many local lakes. Even the lakes I know well will be new from the perspective of this boat!!! Being self contained and staying on the water is all gravy! My son was exploring the new boat and made the comment that it's like a big camper on water. I said, 'Exactly!!!'

By the way, I'm acquainted with several Wendt folks ("ranching families") in my vicinity in South Texas (a little West of Houston). Fine successful folks ! I only mention this since Im acquainted with them fairly well, several as close friends.

Curtis, we just had that conversation last night. My parents were saying that I need to paint my truck to match and I told them that I like the colors... Red followed by white and blue!

Just came in from giving her first bath...sprucing her up to meet the family who are all coming in for Thanksgiving! Now If I could just decide on a name. She's answering to both 'Diosa Azul' and 'Galactica'.

"Blue Goddess" has a nice ring to it, but would you be able to recognize someone hailing you with a butchered pronunciation of 'Diosa Azul'?

Case in point...I used to know someone with an Island Packet 31 with an Austrailian name of "YINDIDJAPANA". No one around could pronounce it or wanted to hail it!

True. Chuckle. I don't think I could easily pronounce that name "YINDIDJAPANA"...definitely not in an emergency.

My sons like Galactica but they are also astronomy and sci-fi fans. They look at me confused when I say Diosa Azul. I've also considered truncating it to Diosa which has a nice ring to it.
