If you got the improvements with the 2000 model plus a nissan instead of an early etec, plus the expensive options that all sounds good

Thanks for your input.
Yes, I am getting it for under 20 thousand, comes with a full cocpit-enclosure, unused dinghy with 2 HP outboard and little used sails too. Yes, the PO only had it for a year, he claims health problems force him to sell. Will have to pay taxes on it once I imported it to Canada, so will be around 20K.
Not sure about weather helm, have never sailed an X before. Will see, hopefully soon. According to my friend, the steering is the smoothest he ever found on an X, although I heard from others here that no matter what the stock system is cr@p.

Have a good look round the bump stripe... peel it back if there are any localised gel coat cracks or irregularities. If the boat has whacked a post while on the water or whilst trailering then it's something worth being aware of. You can also check to see if the ballast has had any extra glass work done which would indicate a leak from either a poor job or a hard bounce. Just lift the various covers. Or get it surveyed.
Hope it goes well... they're great boats!

Yeah, I think I downloaded it from this or the other forum a few months back. Unbeatable pic! I would have been a tad scared...
