I'm going to replace the plugs and run SeaFoam through tomorrow. I'll post results.

Has anyone run SeaFoam through a Honda? How did you get it into the carbs, or just via fuel tank?

Re: Honda 50 power
I use regularly thru the fuel tank. The amount depends on the cruise situation. I use little at the start and more towards the end. I figure the fresh gas will be used during the cruise and towards the end I have some that may end up in the tanks for quite awhile. I seldom cruise less than seven days. From the mountains of Kentucky, it just doesn't pay to haul hours and hours for a daysail.

Re: Honda 50 power
TAM,
I run Sea Foam through my 12 gal. gas tanks everyother fill which amounts to about 4 times a season. The other thing I do, is to "never" use ethanol enriched gas for fuel. Since I have done these two things my Honda 50 has performed flawlessly. I learned my lesson of $600
to clean and rebuild the carborators after using ethanol enriched fuel. So, that is my experience.
Fair winds,
Jim

Re: Honda 50 power
I split a can of SeaFoam between my two 6 gallon tanks .
The motor really smoothed out afterwards .
I have seen my son , the mechanic , pour it down the air intake of cars , in order to clean the injectors .

Re: Honda 50 power
I use it often in all my gas fueled engines. I use 1 oz per gal. and if gas is over 2 mo. old will use 2 oz. per gal. for fuel stabilizer.
I use it to remove mosture here in SW Florida and as a fuel stabilizer and Carb/injectors cleaner. Worth the $6.50 price for a 16 oz. can.
It will not remove dried varnish from fuel left in carbs for longer than 6 mo. or less .
You need to total clean carbs and most times it's better off replaceing them if caked on.

Ran 2 gal through with half a can of Seafoam. Now up to 4200 rpm. Much better. Enough to get through the season and rebuild over winter. I run the rest of the can with the next tank. Also picked up the aerosol and I'll try spraying that in through the fuel drain tubes.

Thanks for the quick return on this issue. I have been lurking around this post since it started.TAM wrote:Ran 2 gal through with half a can of Seafoam. Now up to 4200 rpm. Much better. Re: Honda 50 power
While rebuilding the carbs, I found the the screw plug in the bottom of the jets on #3 was very loose. The jets were all clean and carbs are in great shape overall, so I'm thinking it couldn't maintain pressure in the jets on #3 and that probably caused low pressure in the the other 2. Waiting for manifold gaskets to arrive and I can test it out.

Re: Honda 50 power
Reading this thread has prompted me to finally buy a Honda service manual. Found one at http://www.marineengine.com/manuals/seloc/honda.html for $35. I have never heard of or looked to purchase Sea Foam before, but it sounds like a useful product for the outboard. My 2006 Honda BF50A runs pretty good so far.
