Hamsters

Post by Bill at BOATS 4 SAIL »

What is a good way to become a Hamster? Is there a book to read, what is some good basic equipment to start with?
I had a Top Secret security clearance with crypto acces, but the only morse code I remember is 3 dits, 4 dits, 2 dits, da. I think I heard knowing code is not even required anymore.

Bill,

get the book "now your talking" from ARRL. You are right...no code...the book is an easy read and you will pass the test when you are done. There is a CD that has the complete test bank on it. It will generate practice test with the proper number from each learning domain, with the answers and reason for that answer. After a dozen or so tests you have seen every one of the real test questions. Now you are ready. Let me know if you need a copy of that disk, and I will try to find one. Or email the program to you

Who is a Ham?

Post by Patrick Gilbert »

:macx: My call is KA6SNY, issued in 1982. I am not active now, but as I approach retirement, Ham Radio and blue water cruising sound very appealing. Ham Radio would be very helpfull while cruising the Western Hemisphere.
