And motorcycles, and pianos, and automobiles (well, maybe not the Samurai!), and - need I mention it: OUTBOARDS!
Better Japan than China, though I hear the made in (North) American thing. Perhaps if more of you guys opened both eyes and bought enough of these things, they would open a plant to manufacture them here.
From my side of the fence Mercs are too expensive and lately have had more than their share of model problems. To quote an old advertising slogan: 'trying to be number two, will make you better than number one' (OK - could've made that up!)

Anybody know whether the ETECs are made in USA or Canada? BRP (Bombardier) is the Canadian parent company.

Better Japan than China
There is surely no place for this kind of casual racism on this Forum; I love my

, but if it's build quality and finish is typical of American manufacturing, then I fear for the USA, really I do. However, I don't take the boat as a metaphor for all things American, and I certainly wouldn't suggest
"French is better than Yank" across the board simply because my 4-times-the-price Beneteau was a better quality boat.
I am not Chinese and have no vested interest in championing their cause; however, not
all Chinese manufactured goods are trash (just as not all Japanese items are excellent - note my Honda BF50) - and whilst I'm sure that on a specific brand-by-brand / model-by-model comparison the Japanese would come out ahead, that's not a reflection on the nation as a whole, particularly as many so-called "Japanese" items are in fact manufactured in third countries (again, Honda in Swindon, UK and in Wuhan, China). Incidentally, my wife's new Mercedes Benz E260L was manufactured in Beijing, and I sure as hull can't tell the difference between it and the real deal

Actually did yer know that yer jeans made in China with an Made In the USA ticket on them, in fact the only part of the jeans made in USA are the manufacturer's label stitched on not shure if the labels are shipped to China & stitched on in China adding even more insult .
See this is how the great big manufacturers around the world get around the "Made in " Criteirerea , Its done by all the Big Corp. no matter what Country their from the thing they see is the Money Tree making more profits for the corp increases their big bonuses as long as the big money tree is making the do ray me they could not give a darn where's its planted
yep big corp greed world over got people working for beens in third world counties , their so smart they think but yet cant figure out why no one in North America can or will no longer buy their products " people who are working for min wages & or are unemployed or working part time cannot buy new cars , houses , new products , they buy used & rent !!!. Corp greed almost stole a 25yr pension belonging to me & was deducted out of my wkly pay cheq until the goverment stepped in & put a stop to it , some of these guy's are bigger thiefs than bank robbers . I am not a union man or other, just think these guys will tell yer they love their Country
But the way things are going North America will soon be a third world country & it will be only a matter of time & we'll get all these jobs back again & we'll no longer be Nations full of shopping malls & wharehouses
Just my 1/2 cents worth J
