I would also like to know this... Should we do the skid area also with this?

I use NewGlass2 on just the stripe but I do treat the nonskid area between the portlights. I have noticed no noticeable difference between the treated area and non treated as far as traction goes.

Thanks for that, I was worried about creating a ice skating rink. Did you also do the windows? Looks like the Knot Sure did and turned out well.

I wasn't sure what the outcome would be if I coated the windows so I masked them off before applying the Newglass2. That's a great question though. I may have to find a scrap of tinted acrylic and give it a dip!

- I do not use it on the non-skid surfaces (excpet the one between the two top windows).

- I use it on every smooth surface... the top, sides and hull. (I use rustoleum on the bottom! )

- I used to do all the windows... but it will make it blurry looking out from the inside. Now I just do the two front top windows and keep the side windows clear.

I used the NewGlass2 last year for the first time. I was very pleased with the results, but the initial 6 applications were a little tedious. It was July in Florida so you can imagine the temperature. A year later the topside needs the annual redo, which the company said could be done with just 2 coats. I covered every square inch of my boat from the waterline up, including the non-skid areas. I have had no problems with those areas being just as secure as before, and, as I said, I put six coats on initially. I think it is a good product, and I have no reservations about using it on any surface on the boat.

How many coats do you get (bottom ½ or full boat) out of one bottle. Or .. How much of a bottle do you use per coat?

I just did the annual re-apply to all the smooth surfaces (hull, sides and top windows... minus cockpit) with 4 coats and used a half a bottle. Took me 15 minutes (I was grilling in between coats... hehe)

Looks like a new shiny boat again!

I guess I should give that stuff a try. It's just getting too chalky on the decks, so I suppose I have nothing to lose. The hull still looks pretty nice though.

Do you do anything at all between yearly touch-ups?
Do you have to do any special prep before the annual touch ups?
Also, during the year do you still wash the boat with soapy water?

Does the gelcoat (particularly the black) not oxidize through this stuff at all then?

-----> Not from what I can tell... except that black strip curve between the top and side window... I have had to re-wetsand (600+ grit) it lightly one year.

-----> nope, just wash and let the boat dry. (oh, and patch the holes from my docking procedures! hehe)

-----> nope, just wash. 4 years ago I did strip it all off with the pre-treat (really easy!), cuts down on the buildup and drips I did not catch.

-----> yup! I use Tilex in the cockpit area since I don't newglass2 the cockpit area... cause I'm lazy.

From reading around the forums (other fora; not the much smarter folks we have here ), there's some talk of Newglass2 yellowing, and Polyglow not. I take it that's not been your experience?

Also, is it really slippery, particularly on the deck?

I only do the smooth parts of the top deck, doesn't seem to be any more slippery than without it.

I have not noticed any yellowing... here is what my boat looks likes now. I'll let you all be the judge. (check out the black area on Compromise and mine)
