On Sugar Loaf Key there is a KOA with a few sites right on the water. We pull with a small motorhome so we get a spot on the water with full hookups. At night you return to you air conditioned rig and enjoy sleeping without mosquitos. Without the A/C at night it's sort of brutal. They have a real nice outdoor bar pavillion at that KOA too and the owners do happy hour every night starting around 7.

There is a bridge you must get under to leave the little bay at the park so bring your mast rig. If your gonna tow 3000 miles go slow and check your boat often. Take the I10 it has less hills and goes pretty straight. There is one section after Beumont TX where the road is rougher than a washboard and it will rattle the rigging right off the boat. Once you make Lake Charles you home free.

The KOA has a lot of big lizard iquana things climbing around up in the trees - other than that its a great camp!

I'm not yet--I keep planning to join but life keeps being really busy. I will be joining at some point. They do an annual trailer maintenance activity that I'm going to need shortly, since I'm not at all handy with the mechanical stuff.

Hey guys, rather than keep the North Channel on your bucket list, do what the Admiral and I did last summer---GO THERE!!

We went with the Trailer Sailors last July and had a great time! It was the first time we met the group; they treated us like old friends.
We thought we'd better go while "We still are healthy and able" (we're in our 50s.) We were at the younger edge of the spectrum.

The sailing was fantastic, the islands beautiful and uncrowded, the anchorages sheltered with fine holding.

We'll be there again next year for sure.

Go to the Trailer Sailor website; It'll give you the information you need on what to bring (passports, insurance proof, boat registration, etc.).

We need more Macs there.
