Sorry to hear about the DB – but repairable. I would expect to see that the damage would be no less than 12” from the top of the daggerboard on the trailing edge because that is the most amount that it should ever extend out from the bottom of the boat. You might want to check that the limit line with the washer and knot at the end of it doesn't let the daggerboard extend any more than this.
Are the dolphins there year-round? Like you would see that many of them any time you went out?
To get it to work on moble (At least the iPad) Use Chrome, check the three bars on the right and select "Request Desktop Site" Than serch it from there. That way Chrome is not reporting it is a mobile device.
Ill give it a go. I'm on my phone so hopefully it works. As for the db ours came damaged (unknown for the first two seasons) looks like the po hit something and all the damage was at the top of the db. I figure he hit something slow and forced the db into the trunk and bottom of the boat thankfully they are both stronger than the db.
That's why I'm perfectly happy to have a swing centerboard, as well as kick-up rudders. I mangled the pintle rod on my A7.0 years ago, several times, from hitting the bottom with it. It was a flimsy design, with the rudder designed to slide up and down a long SS pintle for shallow water and trailering, with long spans of unsupported rod. It was perfectly fine while sailing, but hit something and it got messed up. At least the centerboard (or is it a keel? It was heavy, solid steel plate) was near impossible to wreck.
I'm not criticizing the dagger board - it's just that I don't trust myself to pay enough attention in this boat to avoid damaging it. It's one of the many reasons I was drawn to these light-weight, beachable trailer boats.
Other than the lake I occasionally (once a year at the end of the season) take the boat into with a soft mud bottom and a min depth of four feet. We run it in the deep fjords in Alaska... min 10 ft (low tide in harbour) max 2400 ft avg 400 ft. It's weird seeing a color difference in depth below forty feet. When we hit 20-30 ft I get nervous. Lol after a while I calm down. The sounder makes me feel better.
