My 98 :macx: also has a bilge pump near the Heads door (on the back of where the ice box is). Exits about midships well above the waterline.

Been trying to work out where the lowest point is in a Mac26X and fit a manual bilge pump there...or at least the suction...currently have 2 x 12v one on each side but want a manual backup..had thought to put it in the cockpit so your on deck steering any way

Nice one Dennis :)

As to bottom paint. When I first got my boat, it was my number one priority to remove that old bottom paint!

Three years later its still there LOL. There is a paint stripper available (which I'v forgotton the name of but can find out) that makes light work of removing bottom paint. I was given a sample bit and did a section a foot square and sure enough it worked very well taking the hull back to white gelcoat. However now I probably wish I hadnt bothered testing the paint remover because there was no point in removing the primer under that antifoul. Your bottom paint should have a coupla coats of primer under it and that is a very good thing to have on these boats.

When I do evenually get around to it, my plan is simply to sand off the loose antifoul and use a roller to give it a coupla coats of matt black paint. A black bottom makes these boats (having so much freeboard) look much better in my opinion (when on the trailor anyway...)
