Connecting the main sheet to the rail to act as a preventer. What a good idea.

I was out today in wind of 14-19 knots. I only used the Genoa (single-handing and I didn't want to complicate my life with the main) and I was movn' right along at u[p to 5.6 knots with 15 degrees of heel. Quite nice.

Re: 26X - Heel vs Speed
I've often wondered if these boats wouldn't sail just about as well with just a 4 oz. Code 0 (very large light genoa). Sure would save a lot of rigging hassle to not be dealing with a main or a boom. The problem would be that when reefing, the CE moves forward but in heavy winds that's what you want to continue pointing and tracking well.dlandersson wrote:I was out today in wind of 14-19 knots. Thanks everyone for all the responses. I put an incline gauge on so next time I'll have empirical evidence that we are a-ok

And in fact, Judy B sold me a very nice light weight Genoa (since I don't go out when the wind is 20+) WITH a painted skull and crossbones.
