Welcome to the fleet! 8) There are more Mac's (X's and M's) here in Central Florida than you would imagine. I have mine on Lake Monroe in Sanford, but over the 12 years I have had mine, I have seen and talked with several owners in our area. I wish you well with your new adventure. I am a certified U.S. Sailing small boat instructor, if you need any tips on sailing, or want to go out with me for a quick overview on sailing these boats, feel free to ask.

I have had a 2003 M since 2006 and can only say I'm still very much impressed by it. I usually trailer it the keys for 4 to 6 weeks at Xmas. I'm sure you will enjoy it. I consider it the absolute best trailer sailer ever built in its price range.

These boats are easily cleaned up and ready to roll

Looking fwd to seeing your new trailer and hearing about your many sailing adventures to come

One thing you have to love about the Mac is give them a good wipe down and they sparkle like new again,

Try Magic or Easy Erasers for taking the junk off the inside and hull, works a treat and takes away much of the elbow grease

My X had been sitting for a few years and had a nasty build up of gunk, I scrubbed for a day and was making not a great deal of headway, then I remembered Magic Erasers, I just wiped it over and all the gunk I had been scrubbing at for little reward vamished is seconds

Hi Ponaldpe,

We have here on the west coast a group of nice trailer-sailors, why don't you take a look at our site and possibly join us?

Hi all , 8) I Have found out some things about having a boat , if your work slows down, buy a boat I have only had one day off sense I picked the boat up. I did get the new axle put that on the trailer and did some repairs. Today I got the boat in the water and had my first sail was a good time and learned a lot. Their are somethings that I will have to make setting up mast and some trailer mods to help with getting the boar back on the trailer. I look forward to more sailing and maybe a little less work. :macm:

If there is one thing I don't like about the '03 model M it is the mast raising. The mast crutch is positioned on the helm pod which is not the centre of balance when you undo the mast plate bolt, therefore the mast wants to teeter aft unless you have a safety line in place to stop the base from rising up in the air. :? Pretty dangerous! :o With the '04 and later models they installed the crutch on an arch going across the stern just behind the helm seat which solved the unbalanced teeter totter issue. I have the '03 (blue) and have struggled with this issue since I bought it 12 years ago. I am way overdue to visit BWY for an arch system. Other than that I quite like the layout of the '03 more than the later models. 8)

Yes and that is the next mod , and you have to lift the spreader up and over the mast crutch.
