Any chance you've used it to run a trolling motor?

I think I'm going to pick a minn kota up this weekend and give it a try. Should be able to run it in a bucket or a bathtub and monitor if the battery or wiring is getting hot.

No, I have a small battery that goes with my Mini-Kota emergency set-up.

Probably something I can try this summer as a Plan D, just in case. :D

I tried this out this weekend and it worked perfectly. I ran the outboard for about 10 minutes in water at the 4th speed setting with no problems at all - no evidence of the battery heating up or overworking. When I switched to 5th speed the battery protection circuitry kicked in immediately as expected. Very easy to reset and keep going.

It would be better if there was some way to disable the 5th speed but I think this will still work nicely.
