I used to wear one flak jacket and sit on another when I was a door-gunner on a UH1B in 'Nam.

OK, OK!
I'll get a pair too. I know I'll never wear the cheap orange one. I think I'll go to West Marine to see which ones fit most comfortably before going on Ebay.

I went to West Marine, on a nice sunny day, wearing a t-shirt, and bought a lifevest that fit comfortably.
The first time I tried to use it, it was cold and rainy and it didn't fit over my foulies.
I gave it to my wife.
I went back to West Marine, put on one of their jactets, and got a vest that fit comfortably over that.

Be careful when buying the inflateable vests from e-bay or any other second hand source. The Coast Guard issued a recal warning on some of these auto inflating vests. The cartriges will slip out of place and prevent it from filling when needed. When wearing them get into the habit of checking the sight window often to make sure it remaigns charged. In the recalled models the cartrige will still show green but can slip just enough to prevend discharing but still show a green signal in the sight window. If the price is too good to be true, then it may very well be. Also don't forget the annual inspection on these vests. (including filling it with the air tube to make sure it doesn't leak air when inflated.) The cartriges expire and the pills deteriorate over time especially in humid climates.
I have two of these from West Marine and they are fantastic when I have to be up and moveing around on deck. On an normal day I actually have I think 19 PFD's aboard in all shapes and sizes from Infant to float coat and even one for the dog. I have yet to have anyone aboard that couldn't find something that they were comfortable wearing. I'm a believer in PFD's.
