I replaced all my cushions using viso-elastic foam. Mine came from
Costco in 2" thick queen size pads ($140.00 each?) I made the cushions 4" thick and sewed new covers. Looks and feels great. I'll think I'll post some pictures of all the things I've completed in the last two years.

Thanks to Duane (specs) and Mcelmore (hyperlinks) for your input. I'm getting a much better idea now so that I'll be ready shortly for ordering all the upholstery stuff. Will thoroughly check the suggested hyperlinks too.

Duane, I was thinking of the ideas you were in terms of firmness for different cushions. That is, more firm for the seats and less firm for the aft sleeping area.

It was a different approach about having the High School kids do it. Good idea! I would have never though of that. I don't know though, in the Chicago area, I don't think they have any sewing classes at the High Schools anymore. Last I saw, they deleted the music (band) program.

Cushions

Post by pokerrick1 »

I sleep in the aft berth of my :macm: 3/4 nights a week and the cushiions were not firm enough for me. After visits to cushion makers and foam formers (where the prices to put an extra layer of foam underneath my cushions were OUTRAGEOUS - - - it occured to me that the factory already made exactly what I wanted - - - so I asked my dealer to pick up a set for me next time he picked up a boat and he did for about $60 (just foam) (a LOT of $$$$ saved there) and the result was perfect! Now I can sleep right through to 10:30 or 11 AM without interruption and THEN get up and go sailing! :D

Rick :) :macm:
