Why not take it for what it is advertised to be: two humans on a home built ship testing their knowledge, skills, and resolve on all the oceans of the world for a period that exceeds the longest cruise ever attempted.

One can never know one's limits until one has exceeded them. That will never happen if one never tries.

As fellow sailors I truly wish them success, and fair sailing.

I just don't get the point of 1000 days at sea, or even 100 just for the sake of logging the days. The max number of days at sea should be however long it takes you to get from the place where you are to the place you want to be.

As we used to put it in the Marines, there's no need to practice bleeding or being miserable; it'll come quite naturally all by itself when necessary.

Chip.......

Sometimes I just need to get away..........

how far......or how long.....is generally determined by my wallet........or outstanding debts.

WW:

Understand, I'm there myself, but I don't see at all what that has to do with stating an objective that you intend to be out 1000 (or some other number of) days.

I can't imagine putting myself in the position where my only objective is for the trip to be over. Not because I'm enjoyng the sailing, or because when it's over I'll be somethere I want to be, but just to get it the hull over.

It's not the same as saying, as we frequently do to our powerboating bretheren, that getting there is half (or more than half) the fun.

It's not even the same as saying as I frequently do to my non-sailing friends, that a bad day of sailing is still a pretty good day.
