The interesting thing about the mast's rotation is that neither of those pivot points is truely directly in line with the actual center of rotation along the bearing at the bottom of the mast.
... Instead the whole thing has to kind of pop a bit and if you get the shrouds too tight it just won't rotate anymore.
Sorry, I was picturing a bent tang at mid-mast, where the spreaders pivot. "UPPER" shroud just didn't penetrate my gray hair, much less gray matter ... my bad.
