eBay
We bought our Magma at a marine dealer on sale. Still, just a quick glance on eBay found a wide variety of grills at great prices. To bad I didn't check eBay first.

I have both the Magma and the Sport Grill. One ususally lives at home and the other on the boat. One difference, besides those mentioned such as the built-in lighter and flip lid on the Sport Grill, is that the spacing on the grate is a bit wider on the Sport Grill and as a consequence, a few prawns always fall below -
not the end of the world - you can always fish them out later. Also, no big deal if you're doing steak and chicken but we cook lots of prawns so it's worth mentioning.

Ahh, Dr. Z, the prawns you're buying are just too small....Doctor Z wrote:...the spacing on the grate is a bit wider on the Sport Grill and as a consequence, a few prawns always fall below -not the end of the world - you can always fish them out later. Ditto Frank's post. I have the same grill and the same comment about the hose. This thing would absolutely be perfect if that scary cumbersome metal tube was eliminated and a hose regulator could be used instead.
I even use one as my back deck grill, adapted to a large propane tank. Cooks better than any BBQ I have had before. I bought a second one for the boat, but can't find a hose that goes from tank to the stove side fitting. They seem to have a new model grill now that looks like a huge step backward
I also bought a Magma (the small one) and it was the worst piece of junk I have ever used. Almost impossible to light, control, tell if it is lit, wind blows it out, food tends to roll off it, huge lid is a nightmare, grease everywhere, weighs a ton, hard to store, carry, rocks slide around inside when heeled, noisy, etc. Maybe they could rename it the albatross. I am tempted to put it back on the boat to see if someone will steal it. What a waste of good stainless steel. I would rather cook with a propane torch. It's bad I tells ya.

I bought the extension hose in HmDepot. Pretty expensive tho ...
I think they're available on eBay, in various versions.
I bought the one that just converts that metal tube to rubber. Others would permit converting from the little green bottles to a larger Propane bulk storage. Still others are designed to downsize from bulk storage to the green bottles ... handy when the big bottle under the backyard Que goes 'fizzle!' ...
while grilling that fillet mignon dinner.

I bought the big cylindrically shaped Force 10 back in 1990. It has worked flawlesslly even in 20 knot winds.
I moved it from my previous boat to my X by fabricating it's own rail to mount on, which is the top of a T made of rail tubing, which is then plugged onto a 6' vertical riser from the back of my helm seat. This allows it to be rotated for ideal wind placement or to level the grill surface if needed. It's easy to stand that the helm facing rearward and use the helm seat as a table below the unit. I made a pvc carrier for the gas bottles but don't use it as there is plenty of room in the motor fuel compartments.

Force 10 BBQ Small Log Style

I have the small log style Force 10. The stand and serving tray seen in the picture are extra, I purchased both, but unless you plan to use on the beach or a table, they are not necessary. I don't believe the log style is readily available, but I have seen them advertise by some of the boat accessories suppliers.
The feature that attracted me to this model over the popular Magna was:
• Grease catch tray at the bottom of the grill.
• Swing over/out attached cover.
• Most important feature was the much more substantial mounting kit than the Magna.

Having seen the mounting kits provided by Magna, I was under impressed. Force 10 mounting kit fits securely on the Port stern rail facing inboard. I can remove my 96' Mac 26X helm seat entirely, to allow the cook to tend to the BBQ while standing on the transom. Force 10 recommends removing the grill and place it down below when underway, but I leave it in place and covered without a problem for the last 10 years.
My brother, the expert BBQ'er, says that my Force 10 supplies more even heating (no hot or cold spots) than does his large Magna BBQ.
I like the looks of the log style force 10. I had not seen this before you posted it here.
Just bought a Force 10 Stow n Go last week. West Marine had a $50 off cupun(sp for fun). Used it while camping for bacon with a foil liner and last night made 2 large ribeyes on it. Cooked very good. Seemed like even heat. It cooks fast and i needed a little Hefeweizen to put out a few fires but they tasted very good. I have been a Charcoal convert but this is cool.
The night I made the bacon we were at Morro Bay and it was fairly windy. Worked good and I look forward to getting it mounted on the

I have a small table top weber kettle in the camper but like this Force 10 so much I plan on toting it along on camping trips also to supplement the weber.
