Well guys. To quote a famous astronaut, the Eagle has landed, It was on the doorstep when I got home today. Unfortunately I didnt get the antenna, so I will have to order one and the Nautic path chip.Then I will have to figure all of it out.After seeing the book that came with the Seachamp I will probably take weeks to figure it all out. I will have a lot of questions to ask you electronic wizards in the near future, so be patient with me please.

What I was referring to is the ability to know exactly where you are on a nautical chart depicting buoy maker numbers and more importantly depth. I do a lot of sailing in Georgian Bay which can be very tricky business. Lots of rock and unexpectedly shallow spots. 1 minute 150’, next thing you feel a bump as you hit a rock the size of a bus 1” below the surface. I have always used charts for those areas, but I have found it can be very difficult to keep tack of where you are when dancing around the many islands. You very quickly loose track of what is mainland and what is another island. I hope with the use of the 2000cdf I can always know where I am, or as Eric puts it “are not” and be able to know what depth lies ahead. The VHF feature I am putting a hold on until I hear back that someone like DD has been able to get working well and how they did it. It does sound like and excellent safety feature though. Like Eric, I too spend a great deal of time sailing solo and therefore am the only one who knows what’s what on the boat. I have tried many times to teach my wife about the boat etc, to no avail. I think I will skip over here and train the kids instead.

Sorry to break peoples faith here....

Tagging along underneath another ship is a standard hiding/transit technique for all navys that operate subs. The bigger your vessel, the more likely it will be used for shadowing. The straights and gulf have a lot of vessels operating in them. YOu would be suprised how many near misses and scrapes there have been when two subs try to hide beneath one ship.

A very expensive game of hide and seek.

Everyman....and others, I posted a mod showing some details on how I mounted my 2000, the speed wheel, transducer, wiring routing, and the antenna puck. It may be usefull as a reference when you mount things up. Have Fun You could do a search under Tahoe Jack mods or just prowl thru the general posts. Jack

Hi Beene.....thanks for the compliment....of course, like most Mac folks, I harvested a lot of ideas from the postings of others.
If you re-read my mod you will note that we used the LEI CA-2(99-1) factory cigarette power adapter. LEI...Lowrance Electrical Industries ?...is the parent company of Eagle, and Humminbird. They seem to use a common accessory line...LEI. You should find their flyer in your Eagle box....or just google them up. The price was $40....and of course it has that necessary special plug and an internal fuse. Jack

Anyone know where to get a EGC-12w antenna module for an Eagle Seachamp 2000cDF. I got my Seachamp from BoatersWorld but they say they dont have the GPS antenna for it.
