7 lbs. potatoes
4 tuna-can sized cans crabmeat including juice
1 can condensed crab bisque -or- 2 sticks butter
Some heavy whipping cream
Salt
Pepper

slice potatoes 1/4 inch thick and boil until soft (30 minutes or so). Dump everything into a big bowl and beat together. Once everything is blended, add heavy whipping cream until you get a nice fluffy consistency. Salt to taste (be careful--hot foods can take more salt than cold), pepper to taste.

Also works with lobster or clams (use condensed clam chowder).
That's not a big tub of mashed crab potatoes, That's a huge tub of crab mashed potatoes.
At a serving spoon sized scoop each, that should serve 18 to 20 people, hollow legged teenagers
non-with standing...

Yep, served 24, including 5 hollow legged teenagers. Actually 23--had to make regular mashed as well for a shellfish allergy.

Got an update on the Kells 23

Re-rigged it with leftovers from the 2 crackboats

Need to put the "baby-stays" back on it...I removed them to save for me, but this mast needs them to support the middle

Now to prep and paint

Got the first coat of Royal Blue on it today
Also finished all the rigging

2nd coat tomorrow...a few more tweaks...topside paint and then she's off to market

I kept the smaller front Jib out of the 4 sails for my lake setup :P

The other Mainsail was in the bag goes to some other boat altogether...So I'll put it up for sale as well....it's to narrow for use on either setup I use

Cheers mates

I thought it was funny....

Have to take my mother in law shopping this morning (Chinese Grocery store and Sam's Club)
Should be fun....she has dementia and she's mean to boot (great combination)

Then back home for the 2nd coat of Blue...rattle can the trailer black

Then start topside. I painted all the hatches and wood covers blue as well....should look interesting, but I am making do with the leftover paint I have.....trying to keep the "restoration" budget below $50.

I also picked up a Force-10 Grill for the VN23 in excellent shape for $80...Hangs off the stern rail. Very happy about this addition

Cheers

Up North, we also do boat restorations with spray cans... 'cept it's called Simple Green!! :P

81 venture,
Happy holidays to you and yours. I have been following your posts for quite a while now and should tell you It is a joy. I am working on a 1976 Mac. V21 myself now for 25 months off and on, she was close then a hernia operation put the breaks on last month and now snowing  . I enjoy the way you do things and show what you have done. Your antics keep me smiling and laughing. I guess I better figure out how to post pictures and maybe give a laugh or 2 back to you. Keep up the good work.

Thanks! I do enjoy this very much....After years of powerboats I am really jumping in to this Sailboat thing feet first in the deep end. I've also actually made some very good profits so far as well, which I was kind of surprised.

This thread is really about my VN23, but all these "other boats" I keep buying and selling are all part of the plan to pimp the VN23 out super-style lol Every one I have bought and sold parts have been stripped off to go on the Venture...for example this Kells23 donated a new Headsail for my lake mast setup....bringing the total sail count for the lake setup to 4 sails, 2 front, 2 mains.

I also have enough extra hardware to rig probably 2 more boats I think.

I have yet to try out the pop top enclosure that came with the Kells....but if it fits the VN23 I will use it as a pattern to build one out of a re-cycled camping tent (so I can have zippered screens) When I am done I offered it in another thread to any VN owner who wants to use it for the same purpose.

I also have a galley insert for a VN23 I am NOT going to use if anyone wants it....its just the wood insert (no sink) but would make a great pattern to make a nicer one out of better wood

Cheers mate, thanks for posting
