Re: Southport Sail
I talked with Southport and they said we had 6 boats that have called in their reservation and I have counted 11 boats that have confirmed to show. So call early and they will try and get us together for the night. Just tell them you are with the Macgregor group.cptron wrote:Sounds like we are going to have a great turn out. So far there are 11 boats that I know of.![]()
If you haven't done so, call in your reservations at Southport Marina for May 8th, (910-457-9900) and Wilmington docks for May 9th, (910-520-6875).
See everyone in about a month.
We still have room for more if anyone wants to join. Come on everyone lets take Southport by Macstorm.

Re: Southport Sail
Reservations made for Southport and Wilmington. Southport is advising that a 50 to 30 amp adapter may be needed as mentioned earlier. Does anyone have a link to the proper adapter? The link vkmaynard posted earlier does not work. Thanks, Bryan

Take the rigging off and motor? I've lived through the shame. It's not that bad, it looks and acts like a cabin cruiser.Gabby_SC wrote:Sandy and I are going to have to back out on the run. Re: Southport Sail
I agree with Mastreb... We'll probably be doing a bit of motoring on the Cape Fear river considering the tides... I'm taking Syzygy up to the Erie Canal and Lake Champlain in about a month and we're not going to bother taking the mast with us. Think of the time you'll save in getting the boat in the water at the ramp.

Re: Southport Sail
That's what I'd do - use it as a trawler. Better than missing out on the fun.
If you have a MRS, then pin it on, attaching the forestay to the deck fitting in the normal fashion, add a couple of short lines to lifeline stanchions to hold it there, and stick a cheap masthead (steaming) light on it. Borrow the plug from the mast, or just get another one, and you're legal in the dark as a power vessel. Or borrow the existing masthead light from your mast, and put it back when you get the mast fixed or replaced. Take you an hour.
