Nice.
Where did you get that strainer? I wonder if it would fit the M's tiny drain.

Hi Russ!
We found it at Lowes in the kitchen and bath sink accessories section.
Itβs perforated deburred SST sheet material with what appears to be a neoprene rubber edging.
We drilled out the center hole to accept a SST 3/8 dia x 5 inch bolt and nylock nut (it was found in my bin of led hardware

) which acts as a centering pin and weight to keep it aligned in the drain hole.
We had previously used a screen mesh type strainer but it was too light moved around.
This new one with the bolt looks to be something that will be functional and last.
Best Regards

Hi All!
Better travels Thursday!

Florence SC to Wayne NJ!

Had a good start in the morning, itβs nice to have someone make breakfast for you for a change.
Slight delay enroute around Richmond VA.
A Semi turned in onto and knocked a sedan with a young Mother and her young daughter for a solid loop! Totaled their sedan and blocked off a lane of I-95. Fortunately all the airbags and seat belts and crumple zones did their job as the Mother and Daughter were, while traumatized, were relatively intact and safe. The Semi drove off AFTER recognizing what he had done but never stopped! What a jerk!
We stopped rendered aid as needed then called 911, blocked traffic from the accident wreckage and flagged traffic until released from the scene by the authorities.
Just a bit of extra excitement in the travels of Over Easy. Just very very glad there were no serious injuries.
Up and onward in the morning.
Best Regards to All!

Hi All!
Made it to Prouty Beach Campground New Port VT on the beautiful shores of Lake Memphrremagog at sunset Friday.
Nice trip without too much traffic or major delay.
Weather had another frog choker rainstorm or two but we pulled off and enjoyed the break. Took advantage of the stops to top off the gas tank and (for us anyway) made good time.
Pulling things together and settling in had us tucked in on the new 6β foam mattresses by midnight after a sandwich supper. Slept great

Up at 6AM Saturday morning to see the daughter off on her 10K open water swim and so we could watch the βGrand Puppyβ

Best Regards to All!

Hey OverEasy!
Let me know how you enjoy the Memphre, it's one of the outings I'm hoping to get done next year!

Hi All!
While we only land camped in our Mac26X at Prouty Beach on the shores of Lake Memphrremagog the lake is stunningly beautiful.
It spans Vermont and Quebec. Based on tree windage growth the dominant winds are from the the West or West-South-West which should provide great sailing runs.
The town of Newport VT is charming and at least one good restaurant, The Eastside Pub, has a public dock. (Note: They donβt allow dogs unless registered need service dogs.)
Once we get the new engine installed we would very much like to come back to Lake Memphrremagog to enjoy it from the water side!

The Prouty Beach Campground was very nice with full hook-ups, great protected sand beach & beautiful open sites with easy access overlooking the lake and Newport! Shore bathrooms an showers. Local grocery, drug store, pizza, hamburger and the Eastside Pub are all within walking distance (or a short car ride). There are also very nice local parks, foot and bike trails, a wetland boardwalk and additional fishing spots adjacent to the campground. Free Wi-Fi, picnic area, day use beach, day dock pier, Rental kayaks, disc golf and playground are also available. Reasonable rates too! A nice option for and arrival to rest up before launching, boat camping or for non-boat friends/relatives.
We left Monday and arrived home to NH via I-91 and I-93 over the Franconia Notch! Everything worked perfectly and we even managed to skirt a substantial storm front that was moving through the region. Our Dodge Caravan did great towing Over Easy without issue or complaint. ( Mind you we regularly travel at 55 mph and drop down to 45-50 mph fro steep/protracted hill climbs.) this is the highest altitude at 1,950 feet above sea level that we have towed Over Easy so far!
So Tuesday is a rest day and this week we unpack Over Easy in preparation for the installation of our long anticipated new engine in August. ( I Miss our level driveway in SC at this point as we have to use a 10 ft ladder to access the cockpit side here in NH.

)
Best Regards

Where do you store your mast when traveling?

Hi Pitchpolephobie!
We could say something coy but itβs actually on the side of our garage down south while we came north to get our new long awaited engine installed. Given the health issues earlier this year delaying our getting back down south after New Years till Memorial Day we decided to simplify things and leave it off for this trip. Not bringing the mast/rigging/sails saved having to deal with replacing several of the cable stays that are show their age (like the back stay that A broken strand was found near where the swag fitting is securedβ¦never a good sign

.) While health is better the schedule planning has gone βdeep sixβ for several aspects this year.
Original plans were to get back South in mid January but the fates had different plans.
We had also originally planned on attending courses at the International Sailing School and start getting our certifications this summer but that got placed back on the βTBDβ list for possibly next year.
Next year is when we had wanted to start exploring in earnest the ICW along the Southern East Coast.
We may change our plans to start up at Lake Champlain with the International Sailing School then either work our way North into Canada via the Richelieu River/Canal or South via the Champlain Canal to the Hudson River then either further South to New York Harbor or East on the Erie Canal to the Great Lakes. All of it is very much in flux at the moment.
After taking care of some tasks up North and getting the new engine installed we are planning on spending September on Lake Champlain exploring it more extensively as it is an incredibly beautiful lake and region. Looks like we will be motor cruising this season

to simplify things.
Best Regards

βGo north young man go northβ. The Lake Champlain to Montreal to Ottawa south on the Rideau and then the 1000 islands is an amazing trip. Always be out of reach when the Quebec Navy leaves for the annual Quebec Construction Holiday. Two weeks about the last week in July and first week in August. There are 1,000βs of boats that hit the water ways for those two weeks.
After doing the above route we are leaving the Trent Severn waterway and entering Georgian Bay today. We have met several Mac owners on these waterways using the Macs as trawlers. You have to buy a lock pass and buying a mooring pass gives you a place to tie up on lock walls overnight.
Keep enjoying your boat OverEasy.

Hi All!

Yesterday was a big day for us and Over Easy!
We dropped Over Easy off at the installers for our NEW ENGINE!!!

Finally after 14 months of waiting we are getting our new Suzuki DF60AV 4-stroke engine installed! Yippie!!!

We are told that baring any delay getting the new instruments and control quadrant arriving we should be finished by this coming Friday and ready for a test run. Weβre currently planning on spending Friday night aboard and Saturday to starting breaking in process on Lake Winnipesaukee!
This is sorta a big thing for us and our continuing journeys with Over Easy so please bear with us
It is our hope that with the new engine we can have increased capability, reliability and fuel economy to alleviate some of the concerns and idiosyncrasies we have experienced with our previous 20 year old Tohatsu 2-stroke. (Which we will rebuild as time permits for a future boat build project.)
This has been a journey in and of unto itself over the past year.
From the ordering thru the shipping delays compounded by surprise health issues and the resultant delays getting back down South to pick up Over Easy, deinstall the old engine and get back up North again for the installation to occur. Whew!
We a grateful that we are able to do this and very much look forward to expanding our horizons further.
Best Regards to All
Over Easy

You left out that the four stroke will be a heck of a lot quieter than the two stroke.

Congratulations

Congrats on the new motor. What size prop are you going to spin on it?
