It is a 1500 watt Sunsei with a charge controller
Are you sure it's 1500 W?

Does anybody knows if for the 26X, you can make an arch type support, like the mast support on the M, to mount a 100W solar panel that is 52 in x 30 in ?.
If I make that it will help me to have more things than the solar panel, a flag, etc. But I dont know if I have to make two big holes somewhere on the transom or perforate holes for bolts and nuts.

Thank you

roughly 7 1/2 average, full size panels....

Two 60's might be better... or a full size 180W (180-22W).

Here is what I use to maintain my batteries (2 golf-cart 6v for house and one group 24 marine for starting with West Marine isolator:

BatteryMINDer® Solar Charger Controller 12 Volt with 15 Watt Panel

Image

The Desulfator stage sends high frequency micro pulses that force to sulphation on the plates back into solution, obviating the need for cycling the batteries. Works great laying flat on the cockpit seats and even with heavy overcast. It is not meant to recharge drained batteries, rather just maintain a charged, or nearly so system that is in good health. The combiner, controller and monitor, reside in the space aft of the galley with the starter battery. The house batteries live under the forward dinette seat. The solar panel has a nifty place in the head for storage when not in use. I'll try and get some pics up later today.

Rich,

I think that may be exactly what I am looking for. Does it hook to each of your batteries simultaneously or do you hook to one and jump or combine to the others?

Thanks,
Jim

It connects to the starter battery and the combiner shunts the charge to the house batteries. This allows the house batteries to be drawn down, without discharging the starter battery. All solid state and automatic.

Thanks. I will read over the specs a little closer and give it a thought.

Hector,
I have been trying to get Dingy Davits that will also have a platform for a 85-100 watt solar panel and may just have a local Aluminum welder do it. I think it would be much less expensive than the $1200-1800 I have seen.
Also want to put VHF and FM Antinas on the Frame but fold down for tow.
If I can't get access for bolts thru exsisting vinyle cap covers than will make new holes. I already have diffrent size plastic plugs I bought thru BWY.

Panel's travel home in the head. Hold down made from ABS plastic pipe, carriage bolt and wing-nut. Plastic strip screwed to floor, to prevent panel from kicking out:

OK My bad.

It is Solarcharger SE-1500.

Instructions are in French so some misunderstanding. :?

DESCRIUPTION DU PRODUIT
SolarCharger 1500: Chargeur D'entreien de batterie A Energie solaire 1500mA, 15V (22.5W)

I think it puts out about 1.5 amps per hour. :)

It is possible that my 5 W harbor freight panel is actually draining my battery instead of charging a little bit ?
Yesterday I took a measure during daulight of the panel terminals with my voltmeter and the reading was -.015.
Ideas ?
thank you

Solar panels can discharge batteries, if they don't have blocking diodes installed. Most charge controllers take care of this function and most higher end panels have them included. I am not familiar with the HF ones, so I cannot be more specific.
