Paul,
The beard in your avatar is far browner than what you just posted. Did you dye your beard gray for the boat picture

Is the Castle being used for anything these days or is it just rotting away ? It's a grand looking structure !

Frank,
Mostly just tours these days, its a hard hat area. This past Winter one of the walls fell in, now they are trying to get a fund together to restore it. It's pretty cool to be sailing along and then there is this castle in the middle of the river.

Paul - the Hudson was the inspiration for me to get Catigale (2002

) 8 years ago - I was commuting to NYC every morning, and decided I couldnt live so near this beautiful piece of water without a boat...

I spent night before last in Rock Hall, MD - a quiet little Eastern Shore town that's mostly marinas. Nice sail over, but the high north winds yesterday morning brought some extra-heavy chop that gave me quite a ride home. (I should have listened to the Small Craft Advisory before I slipped my docklines, then stayed till noon or so and just motored home. Winds were around 10-15 kts from 0900 to 1100, slowed down after that, and I was becalmed a couple of hours in the afternoon because I was too stubborn to power up the "iron genny".)
This is Waterman's Crab House, at Rock Hall; this is one of two harborside restaurants that have entertainment on weekends. I got there after 1830 on a weekday evening, and the manager (I'd called ahead) said okay to my staying over after dining there - "but the restroom closes when the bar closes, and you need to be out of here before 10 AM." They have a nice view of the harbor, and live entertainment most weekends - which is causing friction with a large marina across the harbor, so the last set and last call ends at 10 PM.
Sunset at the Waterman's Crab House pier. The sky was too clear to give much color, and it was washed out by the foreground details (such as my stack-pack).

A couple of weeks ago I took this picture of the Red Arrows from our Mac. (I can't include it because no part of the Mac is visible). We waited and waited for them to loop around and begin their show only to eventually realize that they had buggered off. It was just a fly over! Some bright spark on another boat decided to protest with a prolonged vuvuzela blast. What was even worse was that earlier in the day we missed the fly over by a Lancaster and a Spitfire.
