i guess thats why they make dodge ,chevy and ford .i wouldnt give up my dodge for all the fords and chevys in the state ,we were at a ramp over the summer at devils fork and a newer ford (less than 6 months old was pulling a pontoon boat up the ramp next to us ,(maybe 22 feet ,ramp wasnt steep ,its a lake )and bam the motor let go right there on the ramp and i guess a rod had come through the oil pan and all this oil started running to this pristine lake .man they were sick ,they were on vacation 500 miles from home ,how bad would that suck ,i dont understand why ford cant make one engine and leave it alone .this now is the 3rd or 4th dieslel motor they have come out with and none of them any good since the 7.3 poer stroke .there are fields full of ford trucks that ford has had to buy back under litigation .when i jump in my truck and hook my 10,000 pound camper or my mac and head to key west are anywhrere else i wanna have faith in my truck ,my cummins dodge gets in the 20"s on the road .opinions are like elbows everybody has one but i would not trust this motor til 10 of my friends had 100,000 trouble free miles on them .but then again i doont like change or new tech til its been proven .the problem with ford is they try to turn all these motors up so they can brag about horsepower and maybe they do but that doesnt do you any good when it blows up on the boat ramp 500 miles from home .oh once again the thread jumped off topic

Looks like a

to me
PO could must have been actively using the boat, judging from the solar-fan mod. it seems to be in reasonable good condition, what one can see from these pictures.

The raccoon strip on that X appears to be in better condition than an unused boat's could possibly be in. It appears to be in great condition.

The "racoon stripe", the black wrap-around band where the windows are located (looks like a racoon's eye band) only
appears to be in exceptional condition - shiny, like it received special attention.
But the way things appear, and the way they really are can be (and often are) two very different things. Alas, it is but an optical illusion brought about by the shadow of the leaves from the sun on a chalky surface.
Overlooking the illusion, the area of the hull visible in the picture appears to be somewhat chalky.

What's the best way to keep the "racoon stripes" looking good?
Is there somthing that can be done to make them stay looking good?
What is "special attention"?

Just keep them clean and waxed with a good quality boat or automotive wax. Personally, I prefer carnuba-based waxes. If they get dull, a little automotive rubbing compound on a soft cloth with some elbow-grease will bring them back to shiny.

Must be a local genetic mutation. Amazing how totally it changes the look. I've never been a fan of the raccoon stripes and personally rather like the all-white, but it certainly looks a lot more "sailboat" than the regular scheme.
