Hmmm, not sure if it was experience or ignorance, but I have yet to encounter a situation where I felt unsafe on this boat. If sailing the Admiral's fun meter pegs at about 20 Knots of wind, I have been out by myself in 30+ without fear. As far as wave heights, 10' rollers with about 10 second periods were some of the worst so far! Only 100 or so yards away, boats disappeared over the horizon! Masts and all!

This was back in January with our local Yacht club, and some members went back in due to it being what they considered treacherous. I was loving it, but was only able to motor at the time. But as far as quartering waves, I have never experienced any situations where I felt challenged or in a bad predicament, just had to yank the rags when it got too tuff a few times.

The rougher the better in my book, this boat can handle it just fine....it's just a matter of wether (weather :) ) or not (knot :) ) the Skipper can!

There was a time about 5 years or so ago, when the Admiral was going out with me on what was our virgin voyage on our Venture 25'. I am not making this up...we had 25' breakers in the Harbor entrance, and I took 2 of them dead on the bow. I swear, it was the first 25' surfboard I have ever been on. Luckily she was down below at the time, but she saw my eyes also bulge out of the sockets!!! At the trough, the whole boat quaked!

With #500lbs of iron keel, one bolt held it to the hull. That stunt always impressed me, and I do not at all doubt the integrity of a Macgregor product ever since then! No, I should not have been out that particular day....small craft advisories were blaring on the VHF, right after I took that surf! Since I was already out there and commited, I had alot of fun! But it could be me....I love thrills! Guess I can be an adrenaline junkie at times! I wondered why I was the only boat within sight at the time too!

Coming in BTW was actually awesome, probably the fastest that hull ever went in it's life! :D And no problems whatsoever!

Have confidence in your boat....it really can take a lickin' !!!
