I didn't look back to see if it was mentioned, and it probably was, but this is a perfect situation for small solar charger/maintainers with controller. Even one located in an inconvenient place like the cockpit or deck, to be removed and stored for sailing, and secured (somehow) so it doesn't blow away when in use.
