Ah well, that's a whole nother story in SeaSaw's annals.
Not a bowsprit per se, but the nautical equivalent of a steel-toed boot - steel-tipped bow on the boat moored next to me - came off its mooring in a storm and punched an $8,000 hole - big enough to crawl through - in poor SeaSaw's starboard midship.
(Insurance paid for it, and it was repaired so well that, when I first saw it, I thought I was looking at the wrong boat.)
