I have one at the front of the cockpit around 1 foot beneath each winch on the port and starboard side, and one of the front of my steering pedestal. It gives me a very easy way to organize my main halyard, my furling line, and my main sheet.
I'm going to see if two of them are strong enough to hold my winch. If they do, I'll put a pair of them near the floor of my cockpit, near the front on the port or starboard bench to hold the winch horizontally.

I've been surprised at how well these have stood up to the elements. The only time one came off was when my belt accidentally hooked on it and tore it loose.

On the command hook note, another cheap mod: command hook shelving. No drilling required, and if I find that I don't like the location, I can always remove it and relocate it.

I stole this idea from someone else in the mods section, but it's a simple fishing hod folder. I used command hooks along with twist ties attached to them. You rest the front and back of the rod in the hooks and then secure them to the hook with the twist tie. Works nicely and it's a good spot for it.



There's a lot of other things going on in the photo. You can see the fridge/freezer (which I love), my redone galley countertop and sink, a walmart car fan on the wall, hooks for flashlight and binoculars, and my DIY gimbal stove that runs off of either butane or propane.

I love those. I use them to hold my trash container, and will be adding them to deal with lines.

What are you using for galley countertop?

That gimbal stove is also interesting.
BWY installed a standard butane stove in mine. Honestly, I've only used it when the boat is still.

The countertop is just a 1/4" or 1/2" plywood that I rubbed cherry stain on and then poured thick a thick clear coating on. I was amazed at how good it turned out. I don't remember the exact brand of coating, but it came from HomeDepot and looked similar to this one:
