Kicking dirt? Inane, specious, and patently erroneous points for the sake of argument are OK, but pointing out such is "kicking dirt?"

Does attacking the messenger work for you in real life? Instead, you could simply admit you were wrong, but I guess that will never happen.

Why would I bother kicking dirt, anyway? You're already buried up past your eyeballs.

Thanks for the support, Chip - much appreciated.

As for that other guy, I usually just kinda ignore him, frankly... trolls are kinda like background noise on the radio... ya gotta just put up with them and listen through their ranting to the other folks you want to listen to that actually have something useful to say. And like a small child arguing with you, if you keep up your end of the argument with a troll he'll go on for bloody ages, but if you just say your piece and let it drop he'll get no satisfaction - a troll's fun comes from the battle and from knowing he's got the hairs on your neck rising up, not from actually contributing anything positive or useful to the discussion.

I've learned my lesson with regard to trolls, and they no longer raise my neck hairs, or even my eyebrows for that matter - nothing he could say could surprise or intrigue me, or even so much as interest me in the slightest. Besides, this particular troll's appalling abuse and misuse of the English language makes his entries too darned hard to figure out, anyway - it's simply not worth the trouble. I just skip over his posts.

Did I miss something here.. A guy posts a review of a Boston whaler then is Accused of starting an argument, Then he apologizes to the one that pointed that out, then the guy that got his feelings hurt from the review, that was apologized to, blasts him again then KMC comes on and calls the guy static radio noise. And with all this the guy that wrote the review is the bad guy?
Maybe if you guys dont like someone you should not go out of your way to respond in such a manner. Your showing your nickers.
Or maybe KMC you and chip can post to each other and state that you dont want any other poster to respond to you guys.
The gee but I dont like the guy so its alright to insult him reason dont cut it.........

He whose name should not be named

Post by Terry »

So who was that guy from Harry Potter whose name was never mentioned, he left the scar on Harry's forehead. In the end I believe Harry said something about not being afraid to speak his name and spoke it. :P

I'm confused!!! Moe states that he is going to sell his Mac and everyone assumes that he will not continue sharing his knowledge and expertise on this forum...
Is there a rule that states "If you dump your Mac, you gotta go"?
I for one would more than welcome his hanging around indefinitely.
How bout it, Moe????????????????????? :)

That's a good point. I've often wondered what some of the other hobbies are for folks on this board. There's so many bright people I bet the list would be fascinating. So how about it Moe, where else do we go to get your insights?

Yeah hey, tough decision. Ive had to make one from a different dimension.

I was on my back for 14 days in a hospital for heart complications. My mate brought up the mail. All the usual bullshit and theres a letter. Its from Lawrence M. Riggins of Beavercreak, Ohio. Hes thanking me for the bow tie cotter pins I sent him gratis for his new boat. The only card I get, signed by his wife to boot.

Well, I didnt tell my family I was being contained and they figured I was just sipping booze and watching the TV in normal fashion down here in the Big Bend. But it kind of struck me why this guy would go down and buy a card and send it as a thank you note. He could have sent an e-mail, thanks, and thats great. But the card. It was like Something about Schmid when I get this card and it sort of touched me.

My mate tells me my sailing days are over. Im too old and infirm and decrepit to ever launch again. Its too much work to even rig the thing than to think of going out.

I nod to her cry and agree she has a point.

I can sell the 2002x crispy clean Mac with 32 hours on the Yamaha. If I was young and prudent and on the move I think thats what I might have to decide on.

However.

The kids are through their post graduate schools and social security has kicked in. I am absolutely rich! By that I mean if the refrigerator blows up, I dont have to lay down on the kitchen floor and weep. I just pick up the phone and arrange for some guy to fix the bastard.

I sort of nod and keep my mouth shut with the Mate, but Im not going to let the Mac go.

One dream was to sail on down the inner coastal to the Big Easy and find this riverside cafwith the great coffee again. Ill have to check on that for now.

Another dream is to sail to the east, with the coast always in sight, to Tampa Bay to pull up to my oldest daughters dock at St. Pete Beach. Hey, surprise!

I have been in water that scares me. I can imagine seas that would terrorize me if I was in my forties. Now that I approach the outer margin of being alive, Im not as fearful of what I might lose and give up. Im less agile and quick and will have to rely on foresight and experience.

But enough. Mate sticks her head in and says if I dont give this up shes going to kick my ass. I mean Gees. (To be continued).

So, Moe, if you sell the Mac does this mean you get to regrow the beard?

Hey, Sloop John B., Hang tough. Do what your heart desires and what it can do safely - but, be careful enough to stick around as a non-invalid for a long time for the sake of the Mate and kids. They need you, and we need your crusty comments. 8)
