Hmmm - perhaps important to note that weight ratings distinguish among Persons, Motor and Gear. The Sevytex is rated at 600 lbs. for Persons, plus Motor, plus Gear, click pic & read carefully. The transom has reinforcing aluminum gripper pad on the inside, reinforcing wooden pad aft.

Maybe this is one of those quality/quantity decisions. Yes, one can spend $1,000 for a 8.5 ft. China-mock of Zodiac's PVC,
OR spend $300 for Zodiac's own China-mock design, marketed thru Sevylor.

That Sevylor certainly looks very small and light duty. We moved up from our 8'6" slat floor because it was too small and limited in capacity at 600#. Does the Sevylor have a inflatable keel? These make a huge difference in rowing and motoring.

My 9'9" Maxxon is rated at 1200#. It will take up to 15hp motor and has strap down for the gas tank. I also like it's real seat for rowing verses the inflatable seat. It's squarish bow will seat 3 people, that pointy bow looks very limited.
